Approaching the Offensive Line Over the Next Few Weeks Texas ran the football 36 times for roughly 4-yards per clip against Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon. In total, 136 yards were racked up in the win over what is still the nation's No. 10 ranked rushing defense. It was a sight for sore eyes, especially after the circus show that traveled to The Swamp where only 15 rushing yards were accumulated by running backs. Texas is seven practices into spring football, meaning they are essentially at halftime. Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte announced Wednesday evening at the Texas Town Hall the spring game will be returning in just a few months. I am sure many of you already have, but if you have not, mark you calendars for April 18th. The Longhorns went without a spring game in 2025, opting for a lighter work load in the spring and ultimately saving the idea of displaying young talent out to the world knowing the spring portal was about to open. Former Utah punter Jack Bouwmeester tells OTF that he is in Austin today to visit the Longhorns. Bouwmeester averaged 44.9 yards per punt and had 17 of his punts downed inside the 20-yard line this year, including five in a single game against BYU. He was a 2nd team All-Big 12 selection this year after being named a 1st team All-PAC 12 selection a year ago. Bouwmeester will have one year of eligibility remaining. View full news story

Purdue tight end Max Klare, a third-team All Big 10 selection by conference coaches, is expected to visit Texas today, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. Klare caught 51 passes for 685 yards and four TDs last season. He’s 6-foot-4, 240 pounds.

2025 Duncanville QB Keelon Russell has flipped his commitment from SMU to Alabama. Texas hosted Russell on Sunday, April 21, the day after the spring game in Austin. While the Longhorns have QB KJ Lacey in the fold at QB for 2025, they did take a long look at Russell. The Duncanville QB is now officially in Kalen DeBoer's 2025 recruiting class. Texas QB Quinn Ewers practiced on Monday says Steve Sarkisian. Sarkisian added in his Monday press conference that Ewers would be listed as "questionable" for this weekend's game against Mississippi State. A top five matchup takes place at the Disch this weekend, as No. 3 Texas hosts No. 4 Georgia beginning today (weather permitting). The Longhorns came out of last weekend's series banged up, with Rylan Galvan, Max Belyeu and Adrian Rodriguez all being injured. Here's the latest on all three. Rylan Galvan - A gametime decision it sounds like, but out of the three, he will be the most likely to play. I'm told that Galvan has been practicing and he DH'd on Tuesday. Two new bodies got looks carrying the football with the running backs this evening — TE Juan Davis and WR Ryan Niblett. Scrimmage No. 2 Takeaways *** • It was a much cleaner day for the offense. Across all three teams, there was only one turnover, which was on a bobbled exchange from the center and quarterback. • The offense moved the ball much better, and quicker than a week ago as well. There has been plenty of movement both on and off of campus in regards to top prospects and the Texas Longhorns for the class of 2025. While official visitors are now back at home, there remains plenty of tidbits filing in from the weekend. *** 2025 Ruston CB Aidan Anding is back in The Boot following his time on campus. Texas did a great job with Anding this weekend and player host Derek Williams helped paint the picture of moving from Louisiana to Austin. Rodney Terry said after tonight's 82-78 win over Kentucky that "knock on wood," the Longhorns will have Chendall Weaver back on the court for next Saturday's road game against South Carolina. Weaver hasn't played since logging two minutes the team's 82-78 loss to Auburn on Jan. 7.

This isn't shocking news, but I was told today not to expect Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte to make any public comments regarding the status of men's basketball coach Rodney Terry until after the 2024-25 season is complete. Again, not an earth-shattering update by any stretch, but don't hold your breath waiting for CDC to address RT's job security publicly.

Just a quick note on portal DL: 1. Peter Woods announced yesterday that he is returning to Clemson next season. Woods is someone Texas and everyone else in college football would have had interest in had he opted to enter the portal. 2. Nua Tanavasu of Utah and Toby Onyedim of Iowa State are two DLs of note to watch. 3. Portal prospects can not begin taking official visits again until Jan. 1. 4. There are discussions being had behind the scenes at this point. We’ll see where any of them go from here. But right now, there is nothing definitive that I have been made aware of.

Some early returns through two days of practice based on what I've been told. - If you're asking if any true freshmen are standing out through the first two days, I'm told there are several. "The depth" of the freshman class is "elite" was the first thing passed on to me. But, individually, there is one freshman who is really doing some nice things very early. According to a source, Kade Phillips, the cornerback from Greater Houston, is showing some truly elite signs just two practices into spring ball. I'm told it's not just his length and make-up speed, but some intangibles as well. I know it's early, but Texas may have caught lightning in a bottle. …

Quick update on Cole Hutson lawsuit against the NCAA. Hutson and his representation are awaiting a conference with the NCAA and a date to be heard in court. Obviously, the hope is for a quick court date given the time sensitive nature of the request. View full news story
