I'm hearing that the visit of Stanford receiver Emmett Mosley V has gone really well. Texas has put themselves in a good position to land him. But another team is still hanging around, and that's USC. Emmett's younger brother Trey is committed to the Trojans, and Emmett attended high school at Santa Margarita Catholic in Southern California. The Trojans, however, have a much different set of circumstances at receiver than the Longhorns. USC returns three of their top four receivers from a year ago. There was a live portion of practice which featured multiple live possessions for the first, second and third teams. We’re halfway through spring practice and I think a couple of themes are becoming evident. First, Texas is clearly a younger team than the last two Steve Sarkisian has put on the field. Second, this Texas team, while younger, is just as talented overall, if not more so. At every single position on the field, Texas has at least one future NFL player if not more. Texas is extraordinarily talented despite being younger. Three, there are several team leaders emerging. Texas Hoops: Traore; international guards in play Sean Miller and staff have three more spots to fill on the 2025-26 roster. As it stands now, the Texas roster continues to appear in a number of way too early top 25 rankings. But the work is far from done with two guard spots remaining. Texas will added 6-10 rebounder and defender Lassina Traore to complete the frontcourt. Miller has addressed the needed height and length in the program in short order. How do you build an elite roster, an elite college football team? It’s done piece by piece and it’s done over a long period of time. In essence, a great program is created by taking multiple steps forward while suffering as few steps backward as possible. Cal tight end Jack Endries is likely someone the Longhorns will try to go after in the portal. At 6-4, 240, Endries was a freshman All-American two years ago and then caught 56 passes a year ago. He is rated the no. 2 returning tight end in the country by Pro Football Focus. He is expected to enter the portal tomorrow. Indiana, Alabama and Miami are expected to be among the suitors. Texas added a talented wide receiver out of the portal yesterday with the news of Stanford WR Emmett Mosley V signing with the Longhorns. As a result, the projection of the room in 2025 feels a bit more steady with another playmaker who has accumulated some time on the field and roughly 50 receptions to their name. While the Mosley addition will help stabilize the WR in case of injury next fall, the Longhorn receivers room remains rather young. Sean Miller on the road seeing top prospects Texas head coach Sean Miller is scheduled to begin making his first school stops today as the coach of the Longhorns. Miller and staff are scheduled to be in DFW to see Austin Goosby, Dakari Spear and others today with the possibility of a first 2027 offer or two bring made. Other staff members will also be on the road evaluating prospects in the 2026 and 2027 classes prior to the "live period" in mid-May. As of 12:01 this morning, the transfer portal has officially opened. It promises to be the wildest ride of college football free agency that we've ever seen. Four-star RB target locks in Texas OV Long-time running back target in the 2026 cycle Amari Latimer (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) has locked in a June official visit. Texas running backs coach Chad Scott has been in communication with the Peach State downhill back since being hired at Texas, and has now locked in an OV. Latimer, 5-foot-11 and 210-pounds, was considered a Texas lean prior to Tashard Choice's departure for the NFL. Latimer now has three OV's locked in. I mentioned earlier this week that Texas planned to be both strategic and aggressive when it came to the transfer portal. Last night the Longhorns held a scrimmage before starting their Easter break and I checked with some sources to see how everything has gone up to this point.. Generally speaking, I'm told that the defense is shining bright, while the offense is a work in progress. "The offense is still working through growing pains, but there's a lot of promise," a source told OTF. "The defense is looking good.
