The Boilermakers, after shoving Daylan Swain under the basket, tipped back in a missed shot with less than a second remaining to end the Horns’ cinderalla NCAA tourney run. Former Utah punter Jack Bouwmeester tells OTF that he is in Austin today to visit the Longhorns. Bouwmeester averaged 44.9 yards per punt and had 17 of his punts downed inside the 20-yard line this year, including five in a single game against BYU. The Longhorns are back on the board! Former Maryland DL Lavon Johnson has signed with the Texas Longhorns, as first reported by Pete Nakos. The Longhorns hosted Johnson Thursday for a visit and watch of spring practice, though this morning it was announced that Johnson would be signing with North Carolina. Texas received some unfortunate injury news over the weekend, as starting right tackle contender Andre Cojoe has been ruled out for the season. Cojoe had been in the best physical condition of his career and was competing closely with sophomore Brandon Baker for the starting job at right tackle. BOOOOOOM! Early this morning, Ohio State defensive tackle Hero Kanu announced he would be transferring to Texas. Kanu, a 6-foot-5, 305-pound redshirt sophomore, is a key addition to the Longhorns for 2025. Kanu recorded four tackles in 100+ snaps in 2024 for the Buckeyes. While he is unlikely to start in Austin, he should be a integral piece of the DL rotation and provide much-needed depth. Texas unquestionably needed at least 3 transfer defensive tackles this portal campaign, and the Horns snared exactly that just under the wire.
