One thing I know based off of the spring *** Quarterbacks Arch Manning – Texas' QB1 said he was "100%" and fully healthy during the final week of the spring. He will be a full go for the summer months. KJ Lacey – There remains plenty to learn from Lacey from a progression standpoint and making the correct reads, but AJ Milwee said it best: When Lacey is on the field, the ball just moves. Ty Knutson, QB, Smithson Valley — Knutson plays for one of the state’s top programs and is rarely tested in the regular season or the first few rounds of the playoff. OTF spoke with Houston (Texas) Dekaney and OTF 4-star WR/ATH Tanook Hines a few minutes ago. Hines met with Steve Sarkisian, Chris Jackson and other Texas coaches over the weekend. Texas told Hines they are recruiting him as a wide receiver, but defensive back is a position he could get a look at. OTF believes Texas is in an ascending position headed into the Notre Dame OV next weekend. Baylor is also scheduled for June 21-23. Hines visited USC last weekend, and Arizona State in late April. Temple EDGE Jamarion Carlton to OV at Texas June 6–8 The Longhorns will receive an official visit from one of the state’s top defensive linemen in Temple DL Jamarion Carlton. Carlton will head to Austin to see the Longhorns the weekend of June 6–8, which was previously slotted for SMU. OTF 4-star++ Samari Matthews announcement thread Four-star++ cornerback Samari Matthews (Cornelius, N.C./Hough) will announce his commitment at 7:30 pm tonight. The 6-0.5, 185-pounder will announce out of Texas and South Carolina, with Miami and FSU having hats on the table. OnTexasFootball has continued to hear more chatter on the Texas side this week, the same as late last week and over the weekend. Texas is set to host another massive five-star prospect this weekend for the final weekend of the June official visits. Grayson (Ga.) linebacker Tyler Atkinson will visit the Longhorns, first reported by Hayes Fawcett. The Longhorns and Atkinson had been flirting with a visit for basically the entire 2025 year, with plans yet to follow through. However, now, the Longhorns get the No. 1 linebacker in the country, per the composite rankings, on campus for a visit. *** Georgia is considered the leader coming into the visit. OTF will have a YouTube video interview with James Johnson in the next couple of days.
