Texas Hoops: Scrimmage report after 80-52 win over TCU The Texas Longhorns took on TCU in a closed door scrimmage Saturday in San Antonio. Texas won the scrimmage 80-52 against a TCU team that isn't considered quite as strong as the last 2-3 teams in Fort Worth. With that being said, OTF was told that Texas played very well in a lot of aspects. OTF notes from the Texas-TCU scrimmage Five players in double figures. Texas hosted two portal prospects on campus yesterday. Max Klare, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound tight end from Purdue, made the trip with his parents. He caught 51 pass for 685 yards and four TDs a season ago. It’s unclear at this time what other schools he is considering. Punter Jack Bouwmeester, who was second team All-Big 12 at Utah this season, was also on campus. Bouwmeester averaged 44.9 yards per boot this season and has two years of eligibility remaining. Bouwmeester, an Australian native, spoke to former Texas punter Michael Dickson via phone yesterday, according to CJ Vogel. The first portal addition of the winter is former Utah punter Jack Bouwmeester, a two-time all-conference selection, who has averaged more than 44 yards per punt each of the last two years and who has two years of eligibility remaining. Bouwmeester is indicative of the type of additions Texas wants from the portal. Texas wants players who will make an immediate impact at certain positions. Lacey, not Kewan Lacey guys. 😂 In speaking with a source, to say redshirting freshman QB K.J. Lacey has impressed since being on campus would be an understatement.
