4-star++ TE Brock Williams Announcement Thread Libertyville (Il.) High 4-star++ tight end Brock Williams will announce his decision at 12:05 p.m. CT on the Pat Mcafee show today. The 6-foot-4.5, 225-pound athletic pass catcher will announce out of Texas, Georgia and Ohio State with the Longhorns having been considered the leader for weeks. Georgia was considered the favorite for much of the football season before Texas became the favorite. According to a court order, the hearing date for Cole Hutson has been moved to Aug. 10 from Aug. 3. Hutson, who is seeking a fifth year of eligibility, can practice with the team under a TRO against the NCAA. Texas begins fall camp on Aug. 5. It will be interesting to see how all of this transpires but it continues to trend in a positive direction for Hutson and the Horns. View full news story

If you missed the softball game last night, you missed an absolute classic. It was the ultimate pitcher’s duel. Texas Tech pushed across a single run in the 5th aided by a ridiculous obstruction call. But that set the stage for a two-out rally for the Horns in the bottom of the sixth. With less than 25 days before the NCAA quiet period begins for baseball, the Texas coaches have been out on the road relentlessly recruiting. *** As you all know, five-star defender Jonah Williams was on campus today for football. Certain media outlets have reported that he met with Schlossnagle, but that’s impossible, as the Texas baseball staff is out recruiting. They did Facetime while he was on campus, however. Kaliq Lockett: The Latest The Texas Longhorns are in a good spot for the OnTexasFootball 4-star++ wide receiver out of Sachse (Texas) High. Lockett, 6-2 and 170, and family have engaged in some very productive calls with Steve Sarkisian and Chris Jackson in the last week. OTF believes the Horns have a solid lead over Alabama with LSU, Texas A&M and FSU rounding out the list ahead of an August 7 announcement. I have a serious question: What more could a Longhorn fan want from a season opener? The Longhorns dominated Colorado State from about eight minutes into the game until the very last minute of it. It was the most complete season-opening performance a Texas team has displayed under Steve Sarkisian. Texas isn’t done yet in the 2026 class! The Longhorns secure a commitment from 2026 DL Elijah Ali after an official visit this weekend. Ali intends to sign with Texas on signing day February 4th. Ali is listed as a 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive lineman. The Gardena, California native will join the Longhorns in the summer after his signature on the final signing day period. Some tidbits I've picked up in the last 24-48 hours: * Expect Tre Wisner to be a more important piece to the offense than perhaps many realize. Wisner has had a very strong fall camp. And while his size may not be entirely different than Jaydon Blue, his running style is distinctive. He's definitely more of a slasher than Blue and seems to glance off tackles more easily, I am told. On a down note, the loss of Cedric Baxter is very real. I watched Chris Del Conte’s Town Hall last night. First and foremost, there were no “gotchas”. There was no extremely bad news or news that fundamentally changed the outlook of the athletic department. I listened intently. There wasn’t even an inkling of a department weaving slightly off course. Instead, he discussed the progress of initiatives already well underway (like the football indoor facility) and gave a sneak peek into plans for the future (a re-imagined softball stadium). The text of the proposed Protect College Sports Act was finally shared in full with reporters. Among the rules, the “Lane Kiffin rule”was perhaps the most eye-popping. A college head coach can not take another job during his own season UNLESS he sits out an entire year of active duty. While we could discuss the merits of the rule, I’m more focused on how that might play out in real fashion. Basically, it means either we will see almost no coaching movement prior to Jan. 1 by which time the majority of bowl games have been played OR we will see more former coaches targeted for new jobs. Last night, Kelvin Banks was awarded the Lombardi Trophy. Banks is the fourth Texas player to win the award, and the first since Brian Orakpo. I can't tell you guys how happy I am that the pretense is finally over. With the decision yesterday of the NCAA and its member institutions to move forward with a settlement in the House vs The NCAA case, one that will financially reward former and future college athletes, the NCAA is moving into a new era. It will be pay for play. It's a frontier that should have been breached more than 30 years ago when the NCAA, despite its rising value in television advertising and sponsorship, clung to the illusion of "student-athletes" and amateurism by its fingertips.
