According to a court order, the hearing date for Cole Hutson has been moved to Aug. 10 from Aug. 3. Hutson, who is seeking a fifth year of eligibility, can practice with the team under a TRO against the NCAA. Texas begins fall camp on Aug. 5. Texas Tech LHP Samantha Lincoln has committed to Texas, according to her social media pages. The rising junior from Taunton, Mass. appeared in 25 games, with 12 starts in 2026. She registered a 3.47 era and an undefeated 7-0 record. For the year, Lincoln struck out 67 batters. She threw 3.1 innings against Texas in Game 1 of the WCWS Finals, allowing 2 earned runs and striking out one Longhorn. Almost all Texas head coaches will head about an hour and a half outside of Austin to meet with administrative staff for a strategy session for next school year. Del Conte does this once year. Nuggets from Orlando *** Both Texas and Michigan went to a local Orlando theme park Monday morning for a quick get morning with one of the Boys & Girls Clubs here in the area. Proposed Rule Changes for the 2026 Season *** Division I football leaders are considering several rule changes for the 2026 season, highlighted by a proposed overhaul of the targeting penalty structure on a one-year trial basis. Steve Sarkisian will be on the hunt for yet another assistant coach. Terry Joseph will be leaving the Longhorns to take a job with the New Orleans Saints OTF can confirm, first reported by Anwar Richardson. It was announced late last week that Joseph would be making the jump from corners coach to defensive pass game coordinator and safeties coach after Texas brought in Mark Orphey from Rutgers to coach cornerbacks. 5-star basketball official visitor on campus OTF has learned that 5-star shooting guard Matthew Able (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Sagemont Prep) is currently on an official visit to Texas. The 6-foot-5.5 explosive guard was released from his letter of intent to Miami February 28. He has made recent official visits to Stanford and N.C. State. Some news and notes based on what we’ve heard: - Even though Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore have been sidelined for spring, don’t think they’re taking camp off. I’m told the duo, along with Manny Muhammad, have been working overtime watching film. Muhammad is somewhat famous for how much film he takes in.
