2025 Duncanville QB Keelon Russell has flipped his commitment from SMU to Alabama. Texas hosted Russell on Sunday, April 21, the day after the spring game in Austin. While the Longhorns have QB KJ Lacey in the fold at QB for 2025, they did take a long look at Russell. The Duncanville QB is now officially in Kalen DeBoer's 2025 recruiting class. Big time out of state visitor Wednesday OnTexasFootball has learned that Sunshine State 4-star wide receiver and Oregon commitment Dallas Wilson (Tampa, Fla./Tech) is scheduled to make an unofficial visit to Texas June 5 per a source close to the recruitment in Tampa. Wilson, 6-2.75 and 185 pounds with 10 inch hands, was offered by the Longhorns in September of 2023. Special teams coach and area recruiter Jeff Banks made the offer to Wilson. Since that time Banks and Chris Jackson have been on contact with the wide receiver with tremendous balance and body control. Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek 2026 wide receiver Chris Stewart has committed to the Texas Longhorns. Stewart, 6-0 and 175 pounds, committed to the Longhorns over offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma and 10 others. Stewart has been a target of Chris Jackson since being offered by the Longhorns December 8, 2023. The Houston area prospect returned to Texas June 1 for Elite Camp. But I picked up on one thing from each player that I wanted to mention this morning. Jahdae Barron compared playing the star position to playing the kid's game of Red Light, Green Light. He was, of course, talking about how you see run vs pass and his corresponding responsibilities on the play. It was an easy analogy to understand just how clearly Barron's mind for the game works. I was asked a question last night by a friend. He asked if a certain player, who did not play against UTSA, was in the "doghouse". I didn't know the answer for sure, so we checked with a couple of sources, and no, said player is definitely not in the doghouse. But that inquiry led to a few more questions. North Carolina portal defensive lineman Travis Shaw is in Austin, Texas for a visit he put on his Instagram story Saturday morning. Shaw entered the portal on December 10 after a season where he appeared in 13 games for the Tar Heels and racked up 337 snaps on the defensive side of the ball. Shaw has seen time as mostly a reserve for the last three years in Chapel Hill. In 2024, he racked up 20 tackles and 15 run stops per PFF.
