Javian Osborne, RB, Forney (Texas) High - 2026 The 5-9, 190 pound 4-star RB and his father made the trip to Austin for the game last night. “It was a kicking!,” Osborn told OTF. “I enjoyed myself. To see the atmosphere again, it was great. Seeing how the stadium was and everything. It was a great atmosphere.” The DFW area standout spoke with both Tashard Choice and Steve Sarkisian after the game. “It was just some small talk with Coach Sark after the game. Coach Choice was asking how my season was g…

  3. College Football Playoff: Seven SEC teams technically still in the playoff race The first ever 12 team college football playoff is about to get very interesting in the SEC with Ole Miss beating Georgia Saturday. It's going to take 10-2 from the SEC and Big 10 to get in with the month of November leading to survive and advance, and then it may still not be enough in the SEC. OTF loves your chances! These two teams in the Big 10 conference are in barring a collapse. Oregon (10-0) - at Wisconsin and vs. Washington Indiana (10-0) - at Ohio State and vs. Purdue Margin of error down to one more loss for two Big 10 teams Ohio State (8-1)…

  4. Started by Bobby Burton,

When it comes to recruiting, each and every November, Steve Sarkisian seems to have a surprise or two in store for us. By continuing to pursue elite recruits even after being told no previously, the Texas coach seems to have a way to somehow insert the Longhorns into the final decision. Lewisville offensive lineman Michael Fasusi, a five star, is now a possibility. A month ago, he was all Sooners. Yesterday, Gerry Hamilton reported five star defensive back Kade Phillips, long thought lost to LSU, will be visiting Texas this weekend. Gerry also mentioned the possibility of Lufkin defensive tackle Zion Williams, himself an LSU commit, also contemplating …

  5. Latest on Michael Fasusi Lewisville (Texas) High 5-star OT and Oklahoma verbal Michael Fasusi made a visit to Texas yesterday with his father and sister. OnTexasFootball spoke with two sources close to the recruitment to get the behind the scene returns. The visit went very well from both reports. One source said, "Much better than the June official visit". The conversations were all viewed as very positive - from football, to Kyle Flood's development, S&C being able to maximize the DFW star, etc... A second source feels "really optimistic" about the Longhorns chances. Both sources believe Texas has a legit shot in the recruitment. This was not a …

  7. Standouts from the Manning Passing Academy *** There is nothing quite like Thibodaux, Louisiana in late June. Some folks like to vacation in the Bahamas, or trek to the Hamptons. Others enjoy a wilderness trip to Colorado or Wyoming or to see a country they never quite have before. Not me. Thibodaux scratches the itch for me. (I can't speak for Gerry, however). But to the quarterbacks. A couple of standouts from what I saw over the 60+ hours spent at the Manning Passing Academy. *** Arch Manning – The Texas quarterback was met with some playful banter from the campers when it came to his throws during the showcase Friday night. There we…

  8. Many of you have asked for updates on the coaching search to replace Nolan Cain. I spoke to a source earlier today and I can say that I expect the search to come to a close very soon. It’s going to be interesting to see how this turns out. — The Longhorns are continuing to pursue both Oregon outfielder Angel Laya and LSU pitcher Marcos Paz. I believe both will visit sometime in the near future. — Texas will host a visitor tomorrow, but I am not ready to release a name at this time. View full news story

  9. Cedar Hill defensive lineman Jalen Brewster, one of the state's top prospects, visited Texas a couple of weekends ago despite being committed to Texas Tech at the time. He also visited Florida and LSU. It's expected that Brewster will eventually de-commit from Texas Tech sometime this summer, with LSU being the new front-runner for his services. Texas will continue to monitor and keep in touch with Brewster because they like him that much. But LSU appears to be the winner at this time. Florida is thought to be out of the race entirely.

  10. BOOM! Texas has landed another commitment, this time from Pearland Shadow Creek CB Brandon Sherrard. At 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Sherrard chose the Longhorns over LSU and Oklahoma amongst over two dozen other offers. Sherrard joins North Crowley CB John Meredith III, Garland Lakeview Centennial CB Montre Jackson, and Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson S Junior Tu’upo as the fourth defensive back and third cornerback in Texas’ 2027 recruiting class. With Chris Stewart on the team and plenty of other top prospects also at Shadow Creek, Texas had Sherrard on the radar for a long time but didn’t pull the trigger on an offer until Sherrard worked out in front of the T…

  11. What happened over the weekend? Well, Sark told us that true freshman Jermaine Bishop worked at corner the entire summer. And he compared Bishop to his previous experiences with three first-round picks - John Ross of Washington, Devonta Smith of Alabama and Adoree Jackson of USC. Sark said he'll push Bishop back over to offense at the start of fall camp. But the mere fact that he thinks so much of the true freshman that he is even attempting to try him at both spots should be a telling sign to all. Bishop isn't your typical freshman. He's going to find his way on the field even in a scenario where Texas has three very strong upper-class receivers. ** …

  13. Started by Bobby Burton,

Big games evoke big feelings. I think we all could sense the anticipation with Ohio State. With Oklahoma. And now with Georgia. There’s a reason for that. We all know a college football season typically is decided by only a few games each year. This is clearly one of them. ** As a program, Georgia has what Texas wants. They have elite players, they have a championship coach, but most importantly, they have a championship pedigree. Essentially, any time Georgia loses, it’s an upset. That’s exactly where Texas fans want to be. The irony is, to get there, the Longhorns have to go through those very same Bulldogs. I don’t…

  14. Texas vs. Texas A&M Visitor List The visitor list for the Texas vs. Texas A&M game is a little light due to Friday and Saturday high school playoff games across the state of Texas. There are more than 15 2027's in Texas that have offers from the Longhorns playing in the playoffs Friday, or Saturday. With that said, the staff will be hosting a more than a handful of juniors in Texas that the Longhorns have offered. OnTexasFootball provides the the list of confirmed attendees, with the understanding more will be added up to game time Friday. Official visits ... Toray Davis, CB/DB, Boulder (Co.) Fairview Charlie Jilek, TE, Portage (Mi.) Ce…

  15. 2027 recruiting class possibilities: A look by position While the Texas staff doesn't hit the road to make continued evaluations in the 2027 cycle until January, there are already some knowns in the direction Texas hopes to take the class. This morning, OTF takes a look at the possibilities by position. Quarterback (1)... TBD. Texas will likely make a new offer here. Running back (2) ... Jabbar Juluke has made one offer, but there will be more next month. The offer is DeSoto High's SaRod Baker (5-10, 185). Wide receiver (1-2) ... Texas has one of the cycles elite prospects in the boat, Easton Royal (New Orleans/Brother Martin). The p…

I didn’t get to say much when it happened, but I want to mention it now. Jack Endries has wrestled with the decision to turn pro or return to Texas since the A&M game. He remains likely to turn pro. After all, that was the plan prior to the season beginning. And some draft boards have him among the top five tight ends available. Even the advice of nearly every agent these days is for a draft-able player to sit out their non-playoff bowl game. Well, Endries couldn’t do it. He likes football too much. And he is genuinely considering returning to Texas in 2026. While a lot of guys with NFL possibilities are opting out, players like Endries, Jelan…

  17. Recruiting wrap up from Under Armour All-America Game media day Orlando, Fla. - Here are the key notes and nuggets CJ and I gathered today at the Under Armour All-America Game media day. Easton Royal will be a battle ... The electric fast playmaker and 4-star++ Texas commit from New Orleans Brother Martin committed to Texas for all the right reasons. With that said, schools will only pursue him harder now. LSU HC Lane Kiffin has been in the DM's plenty. LSU, Tennessee and Miami are likely January or spring visits, along with Texas. Texas has a lot going for them in this recruitment. Winning out for a 10.3 100-meter sprinter that is a football first play…

  18. Started by Bobby Burton,

Texas added a major surprise to its portal class yesterday, an interior offensive lineman: Laurence Seymore of Western Kentucky. Seymore, who is 6-2, 320 pounds, originally signed with Miami out of high school in 2021. He spent two years at Miami before transferring to Akron for two seasons (the first of which he did not play) and then to WKU before last season. All told, he has spent five years in college. But he has only played three full seasons. So he is applying for a 6th year in 2026 that must be approved by the NCAA and/or adjudicated by the law. It’s a new day in college football when you can add a commitment from a portal transfer who is out o…

  19. Team notes: Some notes on the newcomers and freshmen OnTexasFootball gathered some notes on freshmen and transfer portal newcomers over the weekend. A number of the newcomers have caught the eye and attention of those in Moncrief Neuhaus thus far. There is always the caveat on the how new guys in the program are doing: This is obviously without pads. Steal of the class? Kosi Okpala has been very impressive thus far. One thought is he's a very good fit in Will Muschamp's scheme as a overhang LB. He has also impressed with his football IQ. To the point of Texas thinking if he can play some ILB thumper too, along with the ability to play as an overhang. …

  21. Started by Bobby Burton,

Gerry, Hank and CJ all have mentioned that Texas has been hosting a number of elite recruits during spring ball this week. Well, Texas is also hosting elite high school coaches from around the country right now as part of a Nike-sponsored national coaches retreat. It’s a three-day event that brought together the likes of Duncanville and DeSoto head coaches as well as those of national powers like Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. It’s a chance for those programs and their coaches to get to know the Texas staff on a deeper level. ** How real is the hype surrounding Jermaine Bishop? It’s legit. And that hot take is not merely from me or from the…

  22. Best Class Scenario: April 22 The Texas staff has wrapped up visits around spring practice, and have now turned attention to the spring evaluation period with more 2027 offers likely to go out. With that said, the Texas staff already has over 50 official visits on the books for June and prospects are beginning to separate at some positions. Headed into May, it's time to start ramping up the Best Class Scenario for the 2027 class. This list is a combination of shooting for the stars and the most likely scenario with positions to build the BCS. We begin with 25 prospects, with the understanding with 105 scholarships there will likely be 2-3 more developmenta…

  23. Hook 'Em! Texas is back on the board in the 2026 class with the commitment of 2026 Melissa OL Max Wright Wednesday morning! The Longhorns hosted Wright for the Junior Day on Jnauary 20th where it was clear the Longhorns were the top team in the recruitment. The efforts date back to last summer where it became clear Texas was going to be the top team in this recruitment during the Pool Bash in July. Wright stands 6-feet-7-inches and told OTF he weighed in at 286 pounds on the trip to Austin two weeks ago. The lengthy Melissa offensive lineman comes in with a similar frame as that of Trevor Goosby, who is now slated to be the starting LT for the Longhorn…

  24. Bang! Texas has its tight end for 2025! The Longhorns have landed former Cal TE Jack Endries out of the transfer portal after a two day visit to Austin this weekend. Endries, caught 56 passes a year ago for 623 yards and two touchdowns. He will enter the 2025 season as one of the country’s leading receivers at the tight end position, a huge boost to a Texas tight end room that entered the spring with zero career receptions. The addition of Endries brings a proven piece to the Texas offense at the tight end spot. Of course, the expectation is Jordan Washington plays a large role this fall as well. Texas will also have some options with Spencer Shannon, …
