The news of Louisville running back Isaac Brown entering the portal is one to watch. While most of the portal attention for Texas fans at running back has centered around the decision of Florida's Jaden Baugh, Brown is someone we've mentioned on multiple broadcasts. He is a big-time home run hitter. He averaged more than 8 yards per carry in 2025, finishing the season with 884 yards on 101 carries. In 2023 as a freshman, he recorded 1175 yards rushing on 165 carries. In 2025 alone, he had five runs of longer than 50 yards. He is a mix between Tre Wisner and Jaydon Blue IMO. Brown is 5-9, 190 pounds and is originally from Miami. View full news sto…

Texas Hoops: Size everywhere, more portal additions to come For years Texas fans have clamored for a roster with true bigs and size across the board. Well, Sean Miller is already proving he is your guy in that regard. The three portal additions so far are a 6-foot-8 wing/F that will be an NBA draft pick when he leaves Texas, a 7-foot center that will very likely be an NBA prospect after two years in Austin and a very athletic 6-foot-7 wing/F that shoots it from three at 39%. And there will be two more portal additions to the roster, with one being another big man. The current Texas roster now features five players that stand 6-foot-8 or more, with another…

Marcus Spears Jr. reclassifies, commits to Texas The No. 1 ranked prospect in the 2027 class made two massive moves grabbing national headlines. Versatile forward Marcus Spears Jr. (Plano/Dynamic Prep) announced that he will not only be a Texas Longhorn, but has also reclassified to the 2026 class. In doing so, the 6-9.5 younger brother of Texas star volleyball outside hitter Cari Spears becomes the final piece to the Texas 2026-27 roster. Due to age and NBA Draft requirements, Spears Jr. will play two seasons for the Longhorns before entering the 2028 NBA Draft. After playing at Plano Prestonwood Christian as a freshman, the 5-star prospect h…

Texas Men's Portal Thread: Texas has one possible spot remaining The Texas staff has crushed it in the portal. A top 10 level team has been built wonderfully. There is one final piece that is possible to be added, and it could play out a little while. OTF expects Texas to sign an experienced role player backup 5-man, assuming the Longhorns can find the fit at the NIL allotment wanted. The portal additions (to this point): April 11 - Isaiah Johnson, lead guard, Colorado - OTF projects Johnson as a future 1st/2nd round NBA draft pick after the 2027 or 2028 season. April 12 - David Punch, PF, TCU - OTF projects Punch as a future 2nd round NBA draft pick af…

Where it stands headed into the start of decision days Texas remains the leader in a trio of recruitments headed into the first top target decisions of the week. There are seven prospects announcing decisions the remainder of the week that made June official visits to Texas. Two of those today are not expected to pick Texas, but the Longhorns will stay on both of the Sunshine State defenders. OTF takes a look at the decisions, and where things stand as of last night. Kendall Guervil ... The 4-star++ defensive lineman will announce today at noon CST. Florida continues to be the trending school over Texas. Georgia and FSU also have a hat at the table…

The offensive line The question on many Texas fans mind is how will the portal cycle finish up in terms of likely adding one more impact guard to the 2026 offensive line. While Longhorn nation waits on that to be decided, OnTexasFootball takes a look at where things currently stand on January 19, 2026. The starting line and second team ... LT Trevor Goosby, Redshirt Junior - out for spring after minor shoulder procedure. 15 tackle starts, and 30 games played. The backup: Jordan Coleman, Redshirt Freshman - Texas really likes him as a player. Not a lock he's LT long term. Jaydon Chatman, Redshirt Junior - has worked at numerous positions since arrivi…

NCAA Transfer Portal Thread The NCAA Transfer portal for undergraduate students officially opens at 12:01 a.m. April. The portal closes at 11:59 p.m. on April 30. That doesn't mean players must have decisions by the April 30 date, but officially be in the portal by that time. Texas needs in the portal are defensive line (2) and possibly punter (1). The Longhorns will also have some attrition to the portal. We will be talking about it all here. View full news story

Longhorn players must make an NFL decision by Jan. 15, which is this coming Wednesday. For this article, I am focused solely on the NFL decisions of those Longhorns with eligibility remaining. This is what we're hearing: - QB Quinn Ewers - as we've said all along, Quinn's plan is to declare for the NFL draft. - RB Jaydon Blue - conjecture has been all over the place; from returning to Texas, to entering the draft, to entering the portal. His value to Texas has increased of late. Sark needs touchdown scorers and Blue has been deadly in the passing game (scoring TDs against A&M, Clemson and Ohio State). - WR Matthew Golden - despite some efforts…

EDIT: At 2:39pm, Sprague announced he is returning to Michigan. Texas has been a stalking horse now for three different recruitments of players who entered the portal only to return to their original teams. ** This is a mid-day update. Still no word on offensive tackle Andrew Sprague. The Kansas City native is still debating between a move to Texas or returning to Michigan. Both sides are awaiting a decision. It was originally thought he would announce a decision this morning, so it could come at any time. View full news story

From the agent world, we’re hearing some very encouraging news for the Horns as it relates to a potential portal transfer. Would immediately be at the top or one of the top 2-3 at his position available. Plays defense. That’s all we’ll say for now. Portal officially opens Jan. 2. View full news story

Cam Coleman, the no. 1 overall player in the transfer portal, returned to his home state of Alabama yesterday after back-to-back visits to Texas and Texas A&M. As of yesterday evening, Texas continues to have confidence. Coleman will still visit Texas Tech this week, although USC is now out of the picture. Coleman appears to be nearing an end-of-week decision timeline. Again, I like where Texas stands, but there’s still more recruiting to do. ** Michigan offensive linemen Andrew Sprague and Jake Guarnera returned to Michigan yesterday and were expected to visit with new Wolverine coach Kyle Whittingham. The outcome of that meeting re…

Is Jordan Seaton going into the portal or not? The Colorado offensive lineman announced his intentions to do so on Monday. Yet here we are on Thursday morning, and he is - at least as of the time I’m typing this column - still not in the portal, exceeding the two-business-day lag usually seen in these scenarios. If Seaton does not enter, it will be mildly unsurprising. Of course Colorado wants to keep one of the best players in college football. Of course they’d do as much as possible to thwart his departure. But if he does actually enter, then I think the games have only begun. A multitude of teams will be lined up for him, Texas included. He will be the h…

College Football Playoff: No. 16 Texas now needs four teams to lose to get in No. 16 Texas kept their slim College Football Playoff hopes alive with the 27-17 win over No. 3 Texas A&M. While there can be an argument made Texas should/could be in with three top 10 wins and a very difficult road schedule, that's not the reality right now of what Tuesday's College Football Playoff ranking is saying. And that's all that matters headed into Saturday. I'll start with this ... I believe Texas will end up jumping ahead of No. 12 Utah (the Utes should drop 2-3 spots off last two weeks alone, plus their schedule). If not, that's egregious. But let's start…

Portal positions of need and targets: Where things stand to begin Monday Texas hosted a number of portal visitors over the weekend, and more are expected today and throughout the week. OTF will be publishing a daily where things stand look at the Longhorns portal efforts with the portal entry window closing in 12 days. Note: TBA ... means to be announced. OTF does know of a number of names here at various positions, and will have more when the timing is right. This is a true battle with other programs to get guys to campus, so discretion is needed at various points in the process. Running back (2)... Raleek Brown, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei/Arizon…

Former Texas offensive lineman Cole Hutson has filed a lawsuit against the NCAA to become eligible in 2026. The lawsuit is similar to the ones that Texas basketball players Chendall Weaver and Jordan Pope have pursued, and in Weaver's case, already received an injunction. It relates to high school players in the class of 2022 gaining a fifth year of eligibility based on both the preceding and subsequent classes also receiving five full years of eligibility. If Hutson wins the case and/or receives the injunction, he will be available for fall camp for the Longhorns and be expected to compete for the starting left guard spot along with Laurence Seymore and Jaydon …
