  2. BREAKING: I am told that Ryan Wingo is very close to finalizing his deal to return to Texas. An announcement could come as soon as today. Pairing Wingo with Cam Coleman and Emmett Mosley will give the Longhorns one of the elite receiving units in the country. Wingo finished 2025 with 54 catches for 837 yards and seven TDs, leading the Longhorns in all three receiving categories. ** Texas OL Nick Brooks announced that he intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Despite the 48-hour rule before being placed in the portal, I am told that a possible return to Texas for Brooks is highly unlikely. ** Colorado OL Jordan Seaton has not official…

  3. Wanted to refresh the portal thread as we have reached the midway point essentially. Only ten days remain in the current portal window with the Longhorns having now added three players from the transfer portal and are in the mix for a couple of others at the moment. A new thread to also keep a close eye on what is happening in Norman, Oklahoma and College Station, Texas. ; *** The Latest Portal Movement from Texas: Dec. 28, 1:00 p.m. View full news story

  4. Texas received good news yesterday when Ethan Mendoza made the decision to return to school. Longhorns assistant coach Troy Tulowitzki met with Mendoza and his family yesterday at their home in Bedford and the two parties agreed it would be best for him to finish his final year of college baseball in Austin. Unfortunately for Mendoza, he will require shoulder surgery, which is set to take place this week. As far as a timetable for a return goes, that is currently up in the air. Last season Mendoza went .278 at the plate with 52 runs, 14 doubles, 10 home runs, 50 RBI and 11 stolen bases. -- If Mendoza isn't ready by the time practice rolls around, …

  7. Started by Bobby Burton,

I wrote yesterday morning that there is no magical offensive guard in the portal who is slated to become a starter for Texas. That if such a person enters, it’ll have to come from the rosters of either Miami or Indiana. Yet about an hour later, we learned that Georgia OL Jamal Merriweather was on campus. Many folks assumed this was a big deal. It wasn’t. Merriweather, in his third year at Georgia, saw the 13th most snaps of all Georgia OLs in 2025. He was a potential depth piece for Texas or any major school. Nothing more, nothing less. He committed to Miami later in the day. My point is this: Texas will continue to comb the transfer por…

  9. Texas Hoops: Traore; international guards in play Sean Miller and staff have three more spots to fill on the 2025-26 roster. As it stands now, the Texas roster continues to appear in a number of way too early top 25 rankings. But the work is far from done with two guard spots remaining. Texas will added 6-10 rebounder and defender Lassina Traore to complete the frontcourt. Miller has addressed the needed height and length in the program in short order. The current Texas roster now features six players that stand 6-foot-8 or more. The four portal transfers thus far stand 7-foot, 6-foot-10, 6-foot-8 and a very athletic 6-foot-7. Add in three young bigs Jaim…

  12. Started by Bobby Burton,

Texas and defensive end Zina Umeozulu came to an agreement late yesterday. Zina is expected to remove his name from the portal and return to the Longhorns. However... It should be noted that nothing is final until it is actually final. In other words, until the ink is dry, I'm not trusting anything these days. And that is not a concern specific to Zina either. It's about the nature of the transfer portal as a whole. This is the Wild West, welcome to the show! ** Speaking of the Wild West, I spoke to one source yesterday who said to expect at least another 1,000 players nationwide to enter the portal between now and Jan. 16. "It's not don…

  13. Bang!! The one we have been waiting since the beginning of the portal window, Cam Coleman commits to Texas! The No. 1 player and No. 1 wide receiver in the portal window ends up committing to the Texas Longhorns after a lengthy portal recruitment that consisted of trips to Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Alabama. Coleman was in Tuscaloosa last night and arrived back home Sunday morning and wasted no time making his decision. The Longhorns’ recruiting efforts pay off after hosting the first campus visit for Coleman. Arch Manning played a large role in the recruitment as well and now will have a new top-end wide receiver to throw to in 2026. Coleman will j…

  15. Western Kentucky OG Laurence Seymore Signs With Texas *** Texas has found a guard.* I repeat, Texas has found a guard!* Former Western Kentucky OG Laurence Seymore has signed with Texas according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. The catch, and what we at OTF had been skeptical of was his eligibility. Seymore had a redshirt season in 2021, appearing in just two games for the Miami Hurricanes. The next year, he appeared in six games, and made two starts. Where things get interesting is in 2023, where Seymore did not play in a single game, but had already exhausted his redshirt. At Akron, Seymore was a full-time starter, and in 2025 at WKU, he …

  16. Texas vs. Georgia visitor list The visitor list for the Texas-Georgia game October 19 is setting up to be one of the best ever for a Texas home game. There are now more than 35 combined 5-star and 4-stars expected to be on campus this weekend in Austin with three more additions, including a 2026 out of state WR target. OnTexasFootball brings the latest on the visitor list. We will continue to update the list, and make changes where needed throughout the week. 2025 Prospects Michael Terry III, ATH, San Antonio (Texas) Alamo Heights OTF ranking: 4-star++ Javion Hilson, EDGE, Cocoa (Fla.) 17. Final Four: 1 seed Texas vs. 1 seed UCLA Game Thread The No. 1 seed Texas Longhorns (35-3) will take on No. 1 seed UCLA (35-1) tonight at 8:30 pm CT in Phoenix with the winner to play for the National Championship Sunday. This is the biggest game for the Texas Longhorns women's program since March of 1987. The reason why is simple. This Texas team has the best chance to play for a National Title since the 1987 team played in the Final Four in the Erwin Center, losing to Louisiana Tech. The Bruins only loss this season is to Texas 76-65 November 26 in Las Vegas. Texas raced out to a 20 point half time lead in the first meeting. UCLA enters tonight on a 29 ga…

  18. Yesterday I said the assistant coaching search was winding down quickly and that's exactly what happened, as the Longhorns have hired Oregon's Jack Marder and former Texas/Texas A&M assistant Caleb Longley. Both are proven commodities who have had results both on and off the field. I reached out to various coaches across college baseball to get their take on both coaches. "Hell of a recruiting duo," one Big 12 assistant told OTF. "Those two at Texas will do very, very well. I think Marder will be a head coach soon. He's well respected." "People make a huge deal about Cain leaving, but both of those guys can recruit and you upgrade on the actual coaching…

  20. Portal Decisions on the way The Texas staff added top corner on the board Bo Mascoe to the portal class Tuesday, and is expected to hear two more decisions today. OnTexasFootball provides the latest headed into the day. Christian Alliegro, Avon (Ct.) Old Farms/Wisconsin ... The top LB target for Texas was on campus at Ohio State Tuesday after visiting Texas Monday. The 6-foot-4, 245-pounder is expected to let Texas know his decision around lunchtime today, if not earlier. OTF doesn't know when he will publicly announce his decision. I'll say this about Alliegro, and have been saying it, throw any horrible portal ranking out for Alliegro. Will Musc…

  21. Started by CJ Vogel,

The portal isn’t very fun right now, right? Until the imports start rolling in, that’s largely the mood across the Longhorn fanbase. As of this writing, Texas is up to 19 portal entrants and will likely hit 20 soon. That number itself isn’t surprising. I reported in mid-December that 20 would be the expected mark. The real question is how much higher it climbs. With several names still in balance, a total in the mid-20s is very much in play for the 2026 cycle. What is surprising is who has entered. Parker Livingstone, Liona Lefau, Tre Wisner, and most recently freshman linebacker Bo Barnes were not widely expected departures entering the portal window. A year ag…

  22. No. 1 Texas vs Mississippi State Game Thread Game day is here! No. 1 Texas and Mississippi State will kick off at 3:15 pm central on the SEC Network. The Longhorns open SEC football play as a 37.5 point favorite over the Bulldogs. The O/U sits at 59.5. Storylines Should Arch Manning start with Quinn Ewers on the mend and progressing, it’s means a few things of note: Manning would forever be in the history book as the Texas quarterback to start the first ever SEC game for Texas. Manning would be making his second straight start after the abdominal injury to Quinn Ewers against UTSA. Manning would also be the most experienced star…

  23. Texas Hoops: Three scholarships remain; one key need Sean Miller and staff have three more scholarships possible to fill on the 2025-26 roster. The Texas roster is appearing in a number of way too early top 25 rankings. That includes a couple of ranking with Texas at No. 18 and No. 20, but that will likely only come to fruition if Miller and staff hit on the next two guard spots. Miller immediately addressed the needed height and length in the program in short order. The current Texas roster now features six players that stand 6-foot-8 or more. The four portal transfers thus far stand 7-foot, 6-foot-10, 6-foot-8 and a very athletic 6-foot-7. Add in three young b…

  24. Rumors are swirling that five-star combo guard Aaliyah Chavez (Lubbock Monterey) will take in the Texas WBB game later today at 1:00 PM. I can confirm, however, that this is NOT true. Chavez made the five-hour trek to Norman over the weekend to squeeze in one last visit to Oklahoma and I've been told that it went very well for the Sooners. Again, they're selling her on their offense and the fact that it's a great fit for her. Chavez will make her decision tomorrow afternoon at Monterey High School. That decision will be televised on ESPN. While an official time has yet to be announced, I would expect it to happen at either 1:00 or 2:00 PM central. The annou…
