Texas is back on the board! The Longhorns land a commitment from elite 2025 WR Kaliq Lockett (Sachse, TX) over Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida State and LSU. The 6-foot-2-inch wide receiver becomes the first wide receiver in the 2025 class and continues the trend of Texas having success in the DFW area. Lockett possesses some of the largest hands I have seen at the WR position since I began covering recruiting. He is a great vertical threat, even without having elite speed in his repertoire. The first day of July brings good news the way of the Longhorns! 2025 Alief Hastings EDGE rusher Smith Orogbo has committed to the Texas Longhorns. A tightly contested battle between Texas, Oklahoma and Texas Tech ends up with the Longhorns landing the 6-foot-4-inch, 225-pound edge prospect. Orogbo is currently ranked the 117th player in the country per the 247Sports Composite. With Orogbo in the fold, the Longhorns' edge class in 2025 is looking superb with Lance Jackson now with a running mate. Texas has earned a commitment from 2025 Dallas Skyline linebacker Elijah Barnes who made his announcement Friday afternoon. Barnes was on campus in Austin April 6 for an unofficial where he was the only linebacker in the 2025 class to visit for the weekend. He left with a special playbook in hand from Johnny Nansen as well which was a pretty strong indication of where things were trending. A big get for Johnny Nansen who makes his first splash as the Longhorns' linebackers coach since being hired. 2026 Petal (Ms.) DL Corey Wells Joins Texas Class Another one in the boat! Texas lands 2026 Petal High (Ms.) DL Corey Wells following his official visit this weekend in Austin. Wells, a 6-foot-5-inch, 300-pound interior defensive lineman joins Dylan Berymon as the two defensive linemen in the 2026 class, both of which joining the Texas class in the last 48 hours. It was pretty evident when speaking with Wells following his official visit on Sunday that the trip moved him quite a bit. Hook 'Em! Texas is back on the board in the 2026 class with the commitment of 2026 Melissa OL Max Wright Wednesday morning! The Longhorns hosted Wright for the Junior Day on Jnauary 20th where it was clear the Longhorns were the top team in the recruitment. The efforts date back to last summer where it became clear Texas was going to be the top team in this recruitment during the Pool Bash in July. Wright stands 6-feet-7-inches and told OTF he weighed in at 286 pounds on the trip to Austin two weeks ago. How about that! Texas lands 5-star defensive lineman Justus Terry over Georgia for a late National Signing Day victory on the recruiting trail! The Longhorns go into The Peach State and win a head to head over Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs for the top defensive lineman in the entire country. BANG! The Longhorns make a huge splash with a commitment from 2026 five-star EDGE Richard Wesley. After a previous commitment to Oregon, Wesley re-opened his recruitment earlier in the spring, and following his official visit to Texas, the Longhorns end up with the verbal pledge. Wesley reclassified from the 2027 class and fits the physical build at 6-feet-5-inches and 250 pounds. Quite the turn of events here for the Longhorns, a huge win on the trail! View full news story

Another one! The Longhorns stay red hot out of the portal with the addition of former Syracuse DL Maraad Watson! The fifth (!) defensive lineman addition since the conclusion of the 2024 season is perhaps the most talented. Watson was a Freshman All-American last season for the Orange, where he recorded 493 snaps. Watson spent more of his time as a 3-tech for Syracuse, weighed in at 315 pounds and figures to be a guy that will rotate in with Alex January on the Texas defensive line this upcoming fall. When we discussed the need for a big fish on the defensive line, Texas has since added two with Lavon Johnson out of Maryland and now Watson from ‘Cuse. …

A Sunday surprise! The Texas Longhorns have added its sixth transfer portal addition of the spring at a position maybe no one was expecting – quarterback. Former Troy QB Matthew Caldwell will join the Texas quarterback room in 2025. Caldwell started six games for Troy in 2024, throwing for 1,608 yards and 13 touchdowns. RB Raleek Brown Commits to Texas *** Texas jumps back on the board with a commitment from former Arizona State running back Raleek Brown! Brown arrived on campus Wednesday and early Thursday morning he breaks the news that he will be joining the Texas Longhorns for the 2026 season. A much needed addition to the running back room for the Longhorns, and for the program in general. Brown rushed for 1141 yards on 6.1 yards an attempt last year for the Sun Devils. Add a tight end to the 2026 portal class! Texas has secured a signature from former Michigan State tight end Michael Masunas following his visit to campus on Monday. Masunas played the last three seasons with the Spartans in East Lansing, tallying over 500 career snaps. In 2025 specifically, Masunas recorded 391 snaps on the season. In the passing game, Masunas hauled in 19 passes for 232 yards and 3 touchdowns. At 6-foot-5-inches and 259 pounds, Masunas lined up almost exclusively as an in-line blocker in 2025. HOOK ‘EM! Texas is on the board with their first portal addition of the spring! Former Stanford WR Emmett Mosley V has committed to the Texas Longhorns after a two day visit on campus. Mosley was a surprise visitor to campus on Friday which was broken by our Gerry Hamilton and after meetings with Chris Jackson and Steve Sarkisian, the Longhorns come away with their first portal addition of the spring. The 6-foot-2-inch wide receiver spent just one season at Stanford, though it was a good one. His 48 receptions and six receiving touchdowns set Stanford records for freshmen wide receivers. Three for the price of one! Texas has landed commitments from 2025 Cedar Hill offensive lineman Jordan and Devin Coleman. Kyle Flood and the Longhorn staff have long been involved in the recruitments of the Coleman brothers, dating back to June 11, 2023 when Jordan received his offer from Kyle Flood. The Longhorns then followed up with an offer to Devin in February of 2024. Both brothers visited Texas April 6 where it was clear in conversations with them following the trip they were both big fans of Kyle Flood and the Texas Football program. Bang! Texas has its tight end for 2025! The Longhorns have landed former Cal TE Jack Endries out of the transfer portal after a two day visit to Austin this weekend. Endries, caught 56 passes a year ago for 623 yards and two touchdowns. He will enter the 2025 season as one of the country’s leading receivers at the tight end position, a huge boost to a Texas tight end room that entered the spring with zero career receptions. The addition of Endries brings a proven piece to the Texas offense at the tight end spot. Of course, the expectation is Jordan Washington plays a large role this fall as well. Hook ‘Em! A huge, huge, huge addition for the Texas Longhorns comes from the signing of former NC State running back Hollywood Smothers out of the portal. Smothers had originally committed to Alabama after entering the portal in mid-December, however Texas swoops in and flips the talented back. Smothers ran for 939 yards on 5.9 yards per attempt and found the end zone six times as well. He is considered one of the top running backs in the portal and the combination of Smothers and Raleek Brown gives Texas its best running back combination since Roschon Johnson and Bijan Robinson. Another one! Texas adds to its 2026 portal class with veteran linebacker Justin Cryer from Florida State! Cryer was a three year contributor in Tallahassee, totaling 86 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception over those seasons. In 2025, Cryer racked up 43 tackles as well and was an eight game starter. With the linebacking room at Texas seeing departure after departure, Cryer acts as an able body to stabilize the room and provide snaps when necessary. View full news story

Texas is back on the board! The Longhorns earned a commitment from 2025 Hightower DB Kade Phillips Saturday evening. Phillips has long been a priority for the Texas staff since being offered in February. Phillips officially visited Texas during the June 21–23 weekend and the reports OTF received were very positive for the Longhorns. Texas is back up to 13 commits in the class with Phillips becoming the first safety in the fold. Phillips also joins Caleb Chester in the 2025 class for the secondary. Texas isn’t done yet in the 2026 class! The Longhorns secure a commitment from 2026 DL Elijah Ali after an official visit this weekend. Ali intends to sign with Texas on signing day February 4th. Ali is listed as a 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive lineman. The Gardena, California native will join the Longhorns in the summer after his signature on the final signing day period. Boom! Texas adds 2026 K Jake Collett to the 2026 class after his official visit this weekend. Collett just wrapped up his trip to Austin with his parents where he made his decision Sunday morning in front of the staff. Collett is ranked as the No. 2 kicker according to Kohl’s Kicking rankings. The drought is over! Texas is back on the board with the commitment of 2026 Mayde Creek LB Kosi Okpala Thursday morning. Okpala chose the Longhorns over Penn State, Baylor, Houston and Miami (Fl.). Texas adds its first linebacker of the class with the addition of Okpala. The 6–2, 230-pound backer saw plenty of time off the edge with 29 tackles for loss over the last two seasons. Texas has found their QB for the class of 2026! Dia Bell, out of American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has committed to The University of Texas. The big decision of the 2026 class at the quarterback position has been decided. Texas hosted several quarterbacks June 1 for the Elite Camp — most notably Bell and California QB Troy Huhn. Though, we now clearly know where the Longhorns opted to go with their QB spot in the 2026 class. The No. 1 player and No. 1 wide receiver in the portal window ends up committing to the Texas Longhorns after a lengthy portal recruitment that consisted of trips to Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Alabama.
