Arch Manning went off last night. Literally and figuratively. He completed his final 13 passes to finish the game 18-21 with three TDs, two TDs rushing and more than 300 yards passing. I keep thinking about a path to victory for Texas against Georgia. And I think it’s a relatively slim one. Slim enough for me to think it’s unlikely to happen. With Texas nearly six-point underdogs, Las Vegas seemingly confirms my suspicions. So why do I feel this way? Since their Alabama loss, this Georgia team appears to be on a mission. Oklahoma, Missouri, LSU and Texas all remain in contact with Williams' representatives today. A Williams rep met with OU earlier today. We are told nothing was finalized at that meeting. We should learn a little more today on Utah punter Jack Bouwmeester. An Australian native, Bouwmeester averaged 44.4 yards per punt this year with 23 of his 60 boots being downed inside the 20. By comparison, Texas special teams averaged 39 yards per punt this season. Bouwmeester says he should have "more of an update" today. Note: while Texas is expected to look for a punter in the portal, we're unsure if Bouwmeester is the one the Horns are necessarily after.

Some odds and ends from early workouts: - Jay’Vion Cole has impressed early in on-field work. - So has Andrew Mukuba. Despite the return of both Michael Taffe and Derek Williams at safety, it is simply going to be very hard to keep Mukuba out of the starting lineup come August. Texas added a major surprise to its portal class yesterday, an interior offensive lineman: Laurence Seymore of Western Kentucky. Seymore, who is 6-2, 320 pounds, originally signed with Miami out of high school in 2021. He spent two years at Miami before transferring to Akron for two seasons (the first of which he did not play) and then to WKU before last season. All told, he has spent five years in college. But he has only played three full seasons. So he is applying for a 6th year in 2026 that must be approved by the NCAA and/or adjudicated by the law. As Texas gears up to head to Omaha for the College World Series, the Longhorns have also geared up to be very active in the portal. They started it off with a bang, landing Texas Tech INF Linkin Garcia last week. Garcia, who is considered one of the Top 25 portal players, will play the hot corner for the Longhorns.
