OTF can confirm reports of Manning being treated for a concussion. Manning was quickly escorted to the locker room following the game and was not made available for post game availabilities following a gnarly hit he took on the first play of overtime. Earlier this morning, I posted that at least one starter is likely headed to the transfer portal. As of this hour, that remains the same. However, I can add that one of the starters who was also thinking about entering the portal has decided to remain at Texas. I didn’t name names this morning for this very reason. Texas tight end Amari Niblack will enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, first reported by Matt Zenitz. Niblack saw 90 snaps of game time in 2024 for the Longhorns, about a quarter of what he saw at Alabama in 2023. The Alabama transfer recorded five catches for 33 yards. When the Longhorns moved to playing more 12 personnel, it was mainly Juan Davis who trotted onto the field. For most of the season, the Longhorns kept Niblack at bay. Texas has added a former starting quarterback to its roster. Troy transfer Matthew Caldwell has signed with the Longhorns. Caldwell, who finished 141 of 223 for 13 TDs with 8 INTs in 2024, started six games for Troy last year. Caldwell is considered a "depth piece" for the Longhorns who are otherwise talented but very young at the position. Arch Manning is expected to start but behind him are redshirt freshman Trey Owens and true freshman KJ Lacey. As a grad transfer, Caldwell is clearly a stop-gap measure in case of injury. A huge win for the Longhorns with one of the freakiest athletes in the state of Texas opting to join the 2026 class. This is the second commitment for the Longhorns in a week span, both of which coming in the defense backfield as Bishop joins Edna Karr CB Hayward Howard jr. Really sad news broke about Chace Calicut yesterday. The North Shore product and Georgia commitment, and one time Texas prospect, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. He was allegedly driving while a passenger in his car was brandishing and firing a gun at another car driven by a fellow student. Calicut, it is written in the arrest documents, tried to block a fellow student’s car on a major street, brake-checked him, pulled alongside him and drove recklessly among other things. Ouchita Parish (La.) DL Dylan Berymon tweeted late Tuesday evening he would be re-opening his recruitment. Berymon had been flirting with other SEC programs with Ole Miss being the biggest contender. Berymon committed to the Longhorns on June 7th after his official visit in the summer.
