  1. Texas vs. UTEP … Week 3 of 2025 September 13, 2025 **** The second of three games at DKR for the Longhorns. This weekend is all about improvement and seeing the team take steps in the right direction. 1st Quarter Texas starts with the football, and on the first play of the game, CJ Baxter gets dinged up on an inside zone RPO. Christian Clark comes in and makes an immediate impact with a 23-yard gain. First drive of the game and we see some Jerrick Gibson as well. Well another game, another turnover on downs and another failed opportunity to begin with points on the board before the opposition sees the football. It is a come…

Injury news incoming. More later. Per CJ Vogel (Tuesday 5:15 PM) Hearing Georgia is the targeted return date for Taaffe from his thumb surgery. That would mean he would be sidelined for Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, then have the bye week to get back to speed for UGA in Athens on November 15. View full news story

  4. Will Muschamp thoughts, Jadan Baugh and recruiting What a day on the Forty Acres Thursday. One of the very best pure coaches on a side of the ball that has ever donned the burnt orange and white has returned to Austin. Make no mistake, this was a very good day for Texas football. My thoughts this morning will start there. And I'll also hit on Jadan Baugh and a couple of recruiting thoughts. Thoughts on Will Muschamp ... First off, I met Will Muschamp in 2008 shortly after he was hired at Texas. To say I'm a fan of his as a defensive coach would be an understatement. And pure coach in general. As the son of a Texas high school football coach of 40 …

I’ll be in Fort Worth the entire day writing up interviews as they come in from the airport crew. Stay tuned to OTF throughout the day as more official visit feedback continues to roll through. Media: Just talk about this weekend. You’re no stranger to UT or Austin but what were the highlights from this weekend? Royal: “It was a great weekend. Going into this weekend the whole goal was just to see if they were gonna be able to lock down my commitment and I think they did a really good job tow…

  10. Will Texas make the NCAA Tournament? Texas pretty much faced a must win game Saturday against Georgia, and answered with a convincing 87-67 win. The win kept Texas realistically in play to have the opportunity to make the NCAA Tournament. 11. Afternoon recruiting nuggets OnTexasFootball brings some afternoon recruiting nuggets, to go with your Chick-Fil-A nuggets! John Meredith III Texas A&M knows Texas is trending for the 5-star cornerback out of North Crowley High (Fort Worth). The Aggies are attempting to do everything they can to slow the Longhorns momentum. OTF continues to believe Texas is ascending here, but the Longhorns still have to close this one out in a wild wild west NIL world. OTF also wouldn't be surprised if Alabama fell off, and didn't end up getting an OV. That would mean a Texas vs. Texas A&M decision at the end of the day. Noah Roberts The 4-star+ RB out o…

  12. In what is believed to be a last-ditch effort to retain his eligibility, Texas Tech quarterback transfer Brendan Sorsby announced yesterday that he had retained noted lawyer Jeffrey Kessler in hopes of negotiating a settlement with the NCAA over his alleged gambling history. This move won’t be taken lightly by the NCAA. Kessler was the primary counsel for the plaintiffs in the historic House v NCAA case that ushered in the NIL revenue share era. But his success against the NCAA pre-dates even that litigation. The NCAA has quaked in its boots every time Kessler’s name is attached to a lawsuit, and it all started with a case he won for millions of dollars on …

  13. Five 5-star's headline OTF final 2025 rankings OnTexasFootball spent the entire 2024 season watching, studying, seeing in person and taking in all information on members of the Texas Longhorns No. 1 ranked recruiting class. While OTF is not going to rank a top 100 national overall, top 300 and so on ... two decades plus in the business continue to help identify and formulate a range of where a prospect would be ranked. Rankings are never going to be an exact science with so many variables, but through miles on the road and experience there is the ability to build out a ranking for individual prospects. 14. Quarterback is where we’ll begin our notes and observations from the first Texas spring practice on Tuesday morning at Denius Fields. On Texas Football was on hand for a media viewing window, getting our first look at coach Steve Sarkisian’s 2025 squad. Trey Owens and KJ Lacey worked behind Arch Manning in drills. While all three quarterbacks had what could be described as a typical first day throwing the football (not all throws were perfect, and those on target weren’t always hauled in), Lacey’s arm talent was noticeable in his first college practice. Everything Lacey (6-0, 182) did was quick and smooth. He didn’t look like a true freshman early enrollee on th…

Just spoke with a source regarding Stanford edge David Bailey. I’m told this recruitment could end at literally any moment. That seems to be the hope of Texas Tech, who allegedly remains confident. I’m told UCLA is out entirely. So it’s down to Texas and Texas Tech. We’ll see which way Bailey decides to go and what the timing is.

Good morning, everyone! How was your Tuesday? 😉 ** When I tell you there was a little bit of shock and awe on the floor of the College Football Hall of Fame in the hours following Tyler Atkinson committed to the Longhorns, that would be an understatement. Some Georgia reporters were dumbfounded. Reporters from other teams just shook their heads in quiet astonishment. When James Johnson committed to Texas literally moments after Arch Manning left the podium, the day of the Longhorns was officially complete. And the rest of the SEC could only sit back and watch. Yesterday, the Longhorns owned SEC Media Days. ** With the pledges y…

  17. Started by Bobby Burton,

We had some major questions going into the scrimmage yesterday. Some of them were answered: Back-up QB The role feels more and more like transfer Matthew Caldwell’s to lose. We’re told Caldwell looked more than serviceable again yesterday and even started with the second unit. Granted, Steve Sarkisian singled out KJ Lacey, too. The freshman engineered a two-minute drive for a score while working with the 1s. But the plan has always been to redshirt Lacey while letting Caldwell and Trey Owens fight over the back-up role. Tight end rotation Texas worked a lot in 12 personnel yesterday and the first two in the rotation were Jack Endries and Spen…

  18. AUSTIN, Texas – What started as a University of Texas Health Science Center research initiative has evolved into a nationally recognized wellness brand — and now, Humann is taking its relationship with Texas Athletics to the next level. The Austin-based company has been named the Official Cardiovascular Supplement of Texas Athletics under a new multi-year agreement arranged through Longhorn Sports Properties. As part of the deal, Humann’s branding will appear on athletic playing surfaces across campus beginning this August. “This collaboration captures the spirit of what makes the University of Texas special,” said Chris Del Conte, Vice President and Athletics D…

I’m here in Gainesville, Fla., this morning. Just drove past the bronze statues of Steve Spurrier, Danny Wuerffel and Tim Tebow in front of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium where the Longhorns will face the Gators tomorrow afternoon. Texas and Florida, both teams, are at a crossroads for this season. Neither team has matched their preseason hopes. While the Horns are 3-1, Texas has not really looked like a top ten team. A top 10 defense? Yes. But not a top ten team, not yet at least. The Gators, meanwhile, have all but written the eulogy for coach Billy Napier with a 1-3 start, including an inexplicable home loss to South Florida. A victory over the Horns woul…

  21. Started by Bobby Burton,

That was exactly the type of performance every Longhorn wanted to see. Why? Because it was absolutely dominating, smothering and unrelenting. The utter dominance of the win is undeniable. Each and every Longhorn and Aggie who watched that game, and every casual football fan who tuned in, they all saw what we saw. And that is a Texas team that left no doubt on that field as to who the superior team and better program is. The Longhorns kicked the Aggies’ butts up one side of the field and down the other. And they did it on both sides of the ball. Texas rushed for 240 yards while the Aggies’ total offensive output was under 250. T…

  22. UCLA DL Jay Toia has announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal. Our sources say Texas will be interested here. Toia started all 12 games for UCLA a year ago, racking up 28 combined tackles and a sack. Toia played 359 snaps a year ago for the Bruins, with 139 of those snaps coming inside the A-gap. The former UCLA lineman lined up 185 times at the B-gap as well. This will be a name to keep an eye on as Texas continues its search for an additional interior defensive lineman. 23. Three for the price of one! Texas has landed commitments from 2025 Cedar Hill offensive lineman Jordan and Devin Coleman. Kyle Flood and the Longhorn staff have long been involved in the recruitments of the Coleman brothers, dating back to June 11, 2023 when Jordan received his offer from Kyle Flood. The Longhorns then followed up with an offer to Devin in February of 2024. Both brothers visited Texas April 6 where it was clear in conversations with them following the trip they were both big fans of Kyle Flood and the Texas Football program. Texas is up to nine commitments in the class of 2025, with three now on the offensive line. Jordan Colema…

  24. The initial MRI results of Cedric Baxter's knee injury have been received. It's our understanding that Baxter and Texas are now in the process of getting additional opinions from other experts in the field as I type this. We do not believe it's a straight-forward case of an ACL tear. However, I was also cautioned that that doesn't mean he's out of the woods either. Even something categorized as a "sprain" is actually a slight tear, and there are other parts of the knee that may have been compromised as well. We'll continue to monitor the outcome here. 25. Decision Day: Galveston Ball safety Jonah Williams Galveston (Texas) Ball High safety Jonah Williams will announce his commitment around 6:30 p.m. central today. Williams, 6-3 and 205 pounds, will announce out of a final group of Texas, LSU, Texas A&M, Oregon and USC. In the last week, the close to home schools have been talked about behind the scenes with Texas and LSU receiving the most mention. Williams has stayed in contact with at least four schools in the last couple of weeks. OnTexasFootball had Williams at 65% to Texas at the beginning of the week, and has not heard anything as of Friday evening to push back against that. Texas received…
