In what is believed to be a last-ditch effort to retain his eligibility, Texas Tech quarterback transfer Brendan Sorsby announced yesterday that he had retained noted lawyer Jeffrey Kessler in hopes of negotiating a settlement with the NCAA over his alleged gambling history. This move won’t be taken lightly by the NCAA. Kessler was the primary counsel for the plaintiffs in the historic House v NCAA case that ushered in the NIL revenue share era. But his success against the NCAA pre-dates even that litigation. On Texas Football was on hand for a media viewing window, getting our first look at coach Steve Sarkisian’s 2025 squad. Trey Owens and KJ Lacey worked behind Arch Manning in drills. Just spoke with a source regarding Stanford edge David Bailey. I’m told this recruitment could end at literally any moment. That seems to be the hope of Texas Tech, who allegedly remains confident. That was exactly the type of performance every Longhorn wanted to see. Why? Because it was absolutely dominating, smothering and unrelenting. The utter dominance of the win is undeniable. Each and every Longhorn and Aggie who watched that game, and every casual football fan who tuned in, they all saw what we saw. UCLA DL Jay Toia has announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal. Our sources say Texas will be interested here. Toia started all 12 games for UCLA a year ago, racking up 28 combined tackles and a sack. Toia played 359 snaps a year ago for the Bruins, with 139 of those snaps coming inside the A-gap. Three for the price of one! Texas has landed commitments from 2025 Cedar Hill offensive lineman Jordan and Devin Coleman. Kyle Flood and the Longhorn staff have long been involved in the recruitments of the Coleman brothers, dating back to June 11, 2023 when Jordan received his offer from Kyle Flood. The Longhorns then followed up with an offer to Devin in February of 2024. Both brothers visited Texas April 6 where it was clear in conversations with them following the trip they were both big fans of Kyle Flood and the Texas Football program. The initial MRI results of Cedric Baxter's knee injury have been received. It's our understanding that Baxter and Texas are now in the process of getting additional opinions from other experts in the field as I type this. We do not believe it's a straight-forward case of an ACL tear. However, I was also cautioned that that doesn't mean he's out of the woods either. Even something categorized as a "sprain" is actually a slight tear, and there are other parts of the knee that may have been compromised as well. We'll continue to monitor the outcome here. Decision Day: Galveston Ball safety Jonah Williams Galveston (Texas) Ball High safety Jonah Williams will announce his commitment around 6:30 p.m. central today. Williams, 6-3 and 205 pounds, will announce out of a final group of Texas, LSU, Texas A&M, Oregon and USC. In the last week, the close to home schools have been talked about behind the scenes with Texas and LSU receiving the most mention. Williams has stayed in contact with at least four schools in the last couple of weeks.
