Practice Updates on Arch Manning and Michael Taaffe *** – I have been told that Texas is doing whatever they can to get QB Arch Manning cleared and on the field for this weekend's game against Vanderbilt. Manning has been present at practice leading up to Wednesday, but mostly as a spectator. Zachariah and Zion Branch, brothers who played wide receiver and safety for USC, respectively, are expected to visit Texas in the coming days. The Branches have already visited Georgia and Arizona State. They are expected to visit Miami and Texas before making a final decision. If Anthony Hill Jr plays on Friday, it’s because he desperately wants to beat Texas A&M. Hill was listed as QUESTIONABLE once again, I am hearing he is not a true 50/50 to play. Hill remains pretty banged up, and it would not come as a surprise if he was a game-time scratch. BOOM! Texas has landed another commitment, this time from Richmond Randle running back Landen Williams-Callis. At 5-foot-7.5, 190 pounds, Williams-Callis chose the Longhorns over Texas A&M, SMU, Houston, and Missouri. The Richmond Randle product is the consensus No. 3 running back in the nation and is ranked as a top 50 overall prospect. Texas coaches are on the road The Texas staff is on the road recruiting to end the off week. Some coaches began making stops Wednesday, and some will be out Thursday and Friday. The Texas One Fund held its annual fundraiser last night with dignitaries across the Longhorn spectrum in attendance. From coaches, to players, to administrators and ardent supporters and even celebrities and politicians, like Joe Rogan and Tulsi Gabbard, it was an event to behold. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Leon Bridges and Parker McCollum were the musical guests. Held at DKR, guests were seated on the football field. It also included both live and silent auctions of donated prizes. Texas soared into this recruitment late, but multiple visits by the Texas staff in the spring, topped off by the official visit this weekend allow the Texas staff to overcome Notre Dame, Utah and others in this recruitment. Brown was previously committed to USC, though re-opened his commitment in April. He held 44 offers during his recruitment.
