As you all know by now, summer workouts started at the beginning of this month. I can confirm that everyone has made it to campus. This includes the incoming freshmen that weren’t early enrollees and all portal players. — I’m told that workouts are going very well, but that they are extremely difficult. Some days include both a morning session, followed by a mid to late afternoon session. Player accountability amongst the team seems to be a driving point this summer. For those of you wanting obvious answers or quick fixes to the QB conundrum, Steve Sarkisian offered none yesterday. At his weekly press availability, Sark acknowledged the issues his QB is having but focused instead on the idea that Arch Manning will be better for it once he comes out on the other side. The initial MRI results of Cedric Baxter's knee injury have been received. It's our understanding that Baxter and Texas are now in the process of getting additional opinions from other experts in the field as I type this. We do not believe it's a straight-forward case of an ACL tear. However, I was also cautioned that that doesn't mean he's out of the woods either. Even something categorized as a "sprain" is actually a slight tear, and there are other parts of the knee that may have been compromised as well. We'll continue to monitor the outcome here. Texas may be without two of its best players on Saturday for the game against Arkansas. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said yesterday that both linebacker Anthony Hill and receiver Ryan Wingo are being evaluated for hand injuries. Longhorns Out for a Quick 4th of July Intermission *** Consider this a halftime for summer conditioning. The team has been given a quick break from the grueling summer workouts led by Torre Becton over at DKR and Denius to celebrate the 4th of July. Workouts will resume next week as the final stretch to fall camp takes place during the remainder of the month.
