Whether it's No. 7 or No. 8, Texas has ascended into the top 10 and is poised to go higher in the next week. There’s only one SEC team the Longhorns would be underdogs against on a neutral field - Georgia. Not Alabama. They can’t run the ball and their QB is seriously overrated. Certainly not Oklahoma, Texas A&M or Vanderbilt. Texas already beat them all convincingly. Not Ole Miss either. They lost their coach. That’s the problem with this “committee”. What could have been? That’s the inevitable question that comes from last night’s game. The Horns had first and goal on the Ohio State 1-yard line late in the fourth quarter but failed to score. Sunday 2027 Recruiting Notes To say the Colorado Buffaloes are being aggressive on the defensive line recruiting front would be an understatement. OTF has been told that Colorado has made seven figure NIL offers to two of Texas' top targets. That is Tyler Alexander (Wellington, Fla./Palm Beach Central) and Ole Miss commit Ben'Jarvius Shumaker (Ackerman, Miss./Choctaw County). After speaking with multiple folks who attended yesterday's scrimmage, there are two themes that have emerged: 1. The Quarterbacks. Texas has not one, not two, but three QBs who have serious NFL potential, with the ability and know-how to move the team down the field. While there have been some rumors out there to the contrary, as of today Quinn Ewers is expected to start tomorrow night in College Station against Texas A&M. This falls in line with Steve Sarkisian listing Ewers, a three-year starter, as “probable” for this game. The real question is just how healthy Ewers will be in doing so. He has undergone treatment all week in an effort to expedite the healing process. Only time will tell just how much (or how little) that treatment has worked and whether or not the injury will be exacerbated during the game itself. One thing that will not change is who will be calling plays. But the real difference in a recruit making it or not comes from a combination of commitment to craft, football smarts, work ethic, and more intangibles than I can list. Steve Sarkisian Press Conference | December 19th *** Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian will speak with the local media Friday morning. The key theme of this press conference will obviously be in regards to the hiring of Will Muschamp as the defensive coordinator at Texas. A 380-pound BOOM! Arkansas nose tackle Ian Geffrard has committed to Texas following his two-day visit to Austin. Geffrard recorded 463 snaps for the Razorbacks in 2025, and recorded 18 tackles and 8 pressures on the quarterback.
