Texas is back on the board on the offensive line! Former Wake Forest offensive tackle Melvin Siani has signed with the Longhorns. Siani spent 2025 at Wake Forest after two years at Temple. He spent 858 snaps at the left tackle position with Demon Deacons in 2025. This past season, Siani posted an 80.7 pass protection grade according to PFF and did not allow a sack the entire season. Siani is listed at 6-foot-6 and 302 pounds. In his career, he has 1577 snaps at the D1 level as well. Siani becomes the third offensive lineman signed by the Longhorns during the portal window, joining Jonte Newman from Texas A&M and Dylan Sikorski from Oregon State. …

NC State transfer running back Hollywood Smothers committed to Alabama almost a week ago now. But he never signed his NIL deal with the Crimson Tide. Smothers is now expected to be on the Texas campus Saturday and Sunday, according to On Texas Football. Smothers rushed for 939 yards and six TDs in 2025 and also made 37 receptions for another score. He's 5-11, 195 pounds and has breakaway speed. Louisville has not released running back Isaac Brown to the portal. Even though he has submitted his paperwork, Louisville has not signed off on the transfer portal waiver, according to sources. The Cardinals are clearly making a last-ditch effort to retain him and/or muddy the waters for potential suitors. LSU is said to be doing something similar to offensive tackle Carius Curne. Brown posted on Twitter on Jan. 1 his intent to transfer. Schools have 48 hours (or two business days) before they must submit the paperwork to the portal.
