AUSTIN, Texas — UT tight end commitment Brock Williams was back on the Forty Acres last weekend for the first time since committing to the Longhorns on May 15th. It marked his fifth visit to Texas since November. “It was good actually being there and being able to recruit now that I’m committed,” Williams told reporters on his way out of Austin. “Recruiting is fun, that was definitely the highlight.” The Longhorns hosted a pair of Texas Tech commitments last weekend, including five-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster and four-star linebacker Jhadyn Nelson. “I’m after all the Tech guys,” Williams said “All the Texas Tech guys, trying to get them to flip.…

Over the weekend Texas hosted Notre Dame OF Bino Watters for a visit. Watters then left and visited LSU on Monday. Earlier this week I reported that things looked good for Texas and Watters and that Texas A&M, who also hosted him, believed the Horns were leading. That has now changed. I fully expect LSU to be the destination for Watters and that announcement to come soon. There are a lot of moving parts in this recruitment and it's just one of those things that didn't work out. The Longhorns hosted another visitor earlier this week, however, and I'm told that visit went well. The team leaves for Omaha in just a few hours.

Updated percentages on last weekend official visitors The Texas staff is preparing for the June 12-14 official visit weekend, but at the same time working very diligently to close out and/or build a lead with top defensive targets from last weekends loaded official visitor weekend. On Monday, I delivered percentage for Texas to win out on the official visitors from the weekend. Today, those percentages have been updated. Texas baseball is headed to Omaha this morning, a trip the program has made a record 39 times. It will be the first trip under second-year head coach Jim Schlossnagle. This will be Schloss’ eighth trip to Omaha (five at TCU and two at A&M). Schloss will join us this morning on Coffee & Foorball before the team heads out. ** Recruiting. Recruiting. Recruiting. The calendar is changing for Gunter OT Caleb Siler. Originally scheduled to officially visit Texas the June 19-21 weekend, the 6-foot-8, 295 pounder will now see Austin the June 12-14 weekend. With the move, official visits to South Carolina (June 12-14) and Texas Tech (June 16-18) have also been canceled. Siler has already taken OVs to Northwestern (May 8-10), TCU (May 19-31), and Arkansas (June 5-7). The original plan was to make a decision on June 21st, but a commitment is now expected shortly after Siler makes his way to Austin this weekend. Jalen Brewster, the nation's no. 1 recruit and a commitment to Texas Tech, continues to visit other schools, including LSU and Texas. He visited the Tigers and Longhorns the last two weekends, respectively. Yet "The J Brewster Living Trust" apparently purchased property in Lubbock this past February while Brewster was still a high school junior. Is this property purchase a hurdle the Tigers, Longhorns or any other school can overcome? It's uncertain. During Coffee & Football yesterday morning, Gerry and I discussed that signing three of the uncommitted defensive players who were on campus for official visits this past weekend would be categorized as a “good” result given that so many of the players were elite. As Texas gears up to head to Omaha for the College World Series, the Longhorns have also geared up to be very active in the portal. They started it off with a bang, landing Texas Tech INF Linkin Garcia last week. Garcia, who is considered one of the Top 25 portal players, will play the hot corner for the Longhorns. Swanson tripped to Oklahoma May 29-31, SMU June 5-7, and will see Texas this weekend. Texas Commits Locked In After OV Weekend #1 *** There were two very consistent themes from official visitors coming out of weekend one for the Texas Longhorns. For committed prospects, many scrapped the idea of visiting elsewhere following the June 5th visit. For the uncommitted visitors, there were talks of moving up decision timelines. Percentages on Texas official visitors last weekend The Texas Longhorns hosted nine defensive official visitors over the weekend, and the Longhorns would currently accept commitments from all of them. With the understanding that all recruitments aren't the same from an NIL and timeline standpoint. The all-sport dominance by the University of Texas is truly something to behold… and cherish. With the comeback win last night, the Texas baseball team punched its ticket to Omaha. Texas has a chance to become the first school to ever win baseball and softball national titles in the same year. ** The baseball game didn’t end until about 11:30 last night. Texas OV weekend Intel: Part II The Texas Longhorns had a positive OV weekend from talking to multiple sources, as expected. Here is rundown of what I heard about the weekend.
