While Parker Livingstone has opted to enter the transfer portal, sophomore wide receiver Emmett Mosley V will be returning to Texas, sources tell On Texas Football. Mosley, who is from Southern California, transferred to Texas from Stanford in 2025. He was injured early in the season, but earned a starting role by the end of the campaign. College coaches met yesterday at the AFCA convention in Charlotte. The primary topic of conversation was not change to NIL rules, collective bargaining or expansion to a 16- or 24-team playoff. Rather, the focus was expanding the redshirt rule. Currently players can play in four games or less and retain their redshirt. Coaches apparently want to increase that number to 9. The argument, according to folks covering the meetings, is that too many young players are trying to preserve that redshirt at a time when their team actually needs them. Warren Roberson to Return to Texas in 2026 *** Positive news on the retention front: Cornerback Warren Roberson will be returning to Texas for the 2026 season. Roberson had initially announced his intentions to enter the portal on January 12, though the Longhorns were able to reel Roberson back and retain him for the 2026 season. Roberson appeared in 11 games for the Longhorns this past season, totaling 187 snaps. He played a major role in the Citrus Bowl victory over Michigan, with a season high 53 snaps coming in the final game of the season. The advent of an effective salary cap could - if everyone plays by the same rules - make recruiting more strategic and nuanced than ever before. Previously, it was the same goal for every team: Load up as much as you can every year, fill your needs, and move on to the next cycle. Now, it is much more of a multi-year look.
