There’s only one SEC team the Longhorns would be underdogs against on a neutral field - Georgia. Not Alabama. They can’t run the ball and their QB is seriously overrated. Certainly not Oklahoma, Texas A&M or Vanderbilt. Texas already beat them all convincingly. Not Ole Miss either. They lost their coach. That’s the problem with this “committee”. Yesterday evening, the University of Texas and Texas A&M sent a joint letter to Texas US Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn voicing their disapproval of the Protect College Sports Act. It’s the first time either school has voiced its opposition to the bill. After a previous commitment to Oregon, Wesley re-opened his recruitment earlier in the spring, and following his official visit to Texas, the Longhorns end up with the verbal pledge. Some notes from behind the scenes… While most of Longhorn Nation is concerned with quarterback play and the offense, the mood inside DKR is decidedly different. The Longhorn staff remains upbeat about the season ahead. Not only do they feel the issues at QB are temporary, but they are extremely encouraged with other aspects of the team, particularly the defense and kicking game. The staff thinks the defense can get even better as playmakers Colin Simmons and Anthony Hill get more and more opportunities in conference play. The first injury availability report has been released. Texas will be without starting center Cole Hutson when on the road this weekend in Lexington. Hutson sustained an injury in practice and very quickly was given the inactive designation. The expectation is Connor Robertson will start at center for the Horns this weekend. I have confirmed that pitcher Sophia Bordi is no longer on the team. Bordi, who transferred to Texas from Oklahoma, was ranked as the nation's No. 1 pitcher in the 2026 recruiting class.
