This comes two days after 15 of 16 conference athletic directors met with Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark and told the conference that Brendan Sorsby should not play this season, some going so far as to call it a disgrace to college sports. Likely as a result of that meeting, Tech allegedly told multiple media members yesterday that they were prepared to sue the Big 12 or individual schools if the Big 12 took action against them. Texas has landed a commitment from four-star defensive lineman Kasi Currie out of Sierra Canyon in Chatsworth, Calif. The 6-foot-4.5, 300-pounder chose the Longhorns over Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, and USC, among others. Currie is coming off an official visit to Austin this past weekend, one that he gave rave reviews. “Really just the brotherhood,” Currie said of what stood out on the Forty Acres. “They really showed that a lot, the brotherhood.” Currie is former teammates with Texas freshman edge rusher Richard Wesley. As expected, Texas is building some recruiting momentum coming off of last week’s official visit weekend and heading into this one. The pledge yesterday of Kasi Currie, a defensive tackle from California, was a huge pickup for Texas, literally. Currie is 6-foot-4, 315 pounds and looks like he’s cut from a block of granite. He brings the commitment total for the class of 2027 to 13. Mobile, Ala., product Jabarrius “Chicken” Garror could be next up for the Horns.
