Texas 2025 Best Class Scenario: April 28 edition It's time for the final April edition of the Best Class Scenario for the 2025 class prior to the coaching staff hitting the road starting Monday for the spring evaluation period. The Texas Longhorns are a solid bet for a fourth straight top 5 ranked recruiting class. Based on the 35 plus prospects that have scheduled official visits, and the remainder expected to announces visit date, Texas has at least a 50-50 shot at reaching the Top 5 for a fourth straight year. There are 34 names currently on the list with a combination of 24-25 creating a near lock scenario for a fourth straight top 5 class. There are f…

The 2021 Texas recruiting class that ranked 15th according to experts has already produced four draft picks in the 2024 draft, all early entrants following their junior years. The class was supposed to be a transition class for Steve Sarkisian but clearly provided more punch than many expected. Draft picks from the 2021 Recruiting Class so far: - Bryon Murphy - Xavier Worthy - Jonathon Brooks - JT Sanders Possibilities from the 2021 class for next year: - Barryn Sorrell - Gunnar Helm - Hayden Conner ** The class was clearly buoyed by the relatively late addition of Worthy. But a ranking of 15th overall would sti…

  14. Portal juice: The latest Texas' pursuit of TCU transfer Damonic Williams is the top defensive lineman the Longhorns are after out of the portal. With that said, there are two other names the Texas staff is monitoring. Michigan State 3-technique Simeon Barrow Jr. is talking to the Texas staff, and a visit next week has been discussed. Of course the mid-to-late week decision by Williams could impact Texas moving forward with another defensive lineman. Michigan State NG/shade Derrick Harmon could be in play if Williams goes to LSU, OU or Missouri as well. Harmon, 6-5 and 350, would help fill in a need over the ball in that event. Texas has talked to Ha…

  16. As many of you know, Xavier Worthy had the drops in the latter half 2022. Well, I was the first media person to tell folks after the season that he had a broken hand during that time frame. Texas did not want the news out lest it change how some opponents defended them. Some said that the injury was fake - merely an excuse for Worthy having the drops. But facts are Worthy was wearing a soft cast most of the second half of that season, not just around the facility but also to class, etc. But this part is where I think things get interesting, and also reveal a little more about who Worthy truly is. So, let's talk about how the injury actually occurred. W…

  17. Started by Bobby Burton,

With the NFL Draft coming up tonight, I'm thinking back to each of the Longhorns draft hopefuls, and what their individual best plays were as a Longhorn. It's my way of saluting them and what they did on the 40 Acres. Of course, many of them had multiple outstanding plays. But what was their very best? Here's my take (and by the way - this is a topic Rod, CJ and Coach Shipley are also going to tackle in this afternoon's The Winning Drive on YouTube): Byron Murphy - the fourth-down pass rush versus Kansas State was a thing of beauty. And it wasn't even so much of how fast he got into the backfield and disrupted the player. Rather, it was the fact that M…

  22. The very latest on Damonic Williams TCU defensive line transfer Damonic Williams wraps up his visit to Texas this morning. OnTexasFootball was informed by someone close to the recruitment that the visit went as well as could be expected. The Texas program, culture, need at the position, Kenny Baker's presentation, and Steve Sarkisian's program in general all checked the boxes. Williams is expected to continue the visit process with a decision likely mid-to-late next week. OnTexasFootball expects Williams to make visits to LSU and probably Missouri prior to making a decision. Oklahoma also remains in the picture. View full news story

  25. Terrance Brooks’ entrance to the portal caught many by surprise. But not the Longhorns. What happened? Well, based on what I’ve been told and for whatever reasons, Texas decided to move on from Brooks as a definitive starter. It could be that he gained 12 pounds from the end of the regular season to the beginning of spring ball. For a corner already needing more top-end speed, Brooks didn’t do himself any favors. It could be that he didn’t exactly have his best spring practice either, punctuated by a coverage bust in the spring game that should be rare for a third-year player. Or it could just be the simple fact that Texas is continuously looking…
