2027 Antayvious Ellis updates recruitment, talks Chris Jackson and Texas Part of my tour throughout DFW last weekend was stopping by Crowley High School, home of one of the top 2027 wide receiver prospects in the state – Antayvious Ellis. The Longhorns offered the Richardson (Texas) product after a Junior Day visit earlier this year. One year ago Sean Miller was announced as the next Texas men’s head basketball coach following another early round NCAA Tournament exit for the Longhorns, coincidentally at the hands of Miller’s former Xavier team in the First Four. Miller was tasked with hitting the ground running on building his first roster at Texas. New legislation in the state of Virginia allows state institutions to pay for the NIL of student athletes. However, that legislation is at odds with current NCAA rules, which do not allow universities to pay for a student-athlete's NIL. Are Virginia and Virginia Tech going to defy NCAA rules and still expect to play for NCAA championships? What effect will this have on other states, what effect will it have on other lawsuits as a whole? I am told that there have already been discussions in Belmont about the Virginia ruling today. The offseason is absolutely rolling when each time the ESPN FPI rankings get updated and luckily we enter the summer chapter of college football's return with a new ranking to discuss. Texas comes in at No. 3 – about where their consensus ranking has them. Texas has four games remaining in their regular season and for the month of November, it will be full steam ahead. No more bye weeks, no more time for rest. The bye week is great for a few reasons. First and foremost, the rest and recovery aspect for guys like Isaiah Bond and Andrew Mukuba allows for the Longhorns to return back to full strength. But more than that, the bye week allows for the coaching staff to focus in on younger players who are not a big part of the weekly on-field product. Texas to Host Five-Star OL for Spring Game **** 2028 Carrollton (Ga.) OT Kweli Fielder tells OTF that he will be in Austin for the Texas Spring Game on April 18th. The 6-foot-4-inch, 310-pound offensive tackle prospect is currently ranked as the No. 2 offensive tackle according to the 247Sports Composite. The Longhorns offered Fielder back on January 29th, and now the Longhorns will get their first crack at hosting the Georgia native. Houston area DL to visit for the Texas spring game Richmond (Texas) Randle 2025 defensive tackle Chace Sims made a visit to Texas April 6. It was the first visit to Texas since being offered for the 6-3, 285 pounder. Now the Houston area lineman tells OnTexasFootball he will make a return visit to Texas this weekend. Sims also told OTF that he is in talks with Kenny Baker about a June official visit date. Sims enters the last half of April with 15 offers, including Texas March 5. TAMPA, Fla. — Texas will open SEC play this September against Tennessee from Neyland Stadium. It’s the first time the Longhorns will have faced the Vols since 1969. North Shore OL Abdus Kone was on campus April 3rd for the Longhorns scrimmage on Friday night.
