What a win for the Longhorns in the portal. Texas has flipped former Louisville DL Jermayne Lole from his commitment from Oklahoma. Lole has instead committed to the Texas Longhorns. The Longhorns continue to add to their defensive line room as Lole becomes the third addition to this room, joining Bill Norton and Tia Savea. Lole is sixth year senior who spent three years at Arizona State before spending 2023 at Louisville. Two seasons were lost to injury. Jeff Banks and Pete Kwiatkowski were the representatives from the Longhorn staff. Waxahachie will be a school to keep an eye on in the 2026 and 2027 class. Starting off with 2027 QB Jerry Meyer, who visited Texas in early April for a spring practice. Former Converse Judson and Oregon defensive lineman Johnny Bowens tells me he is finalizing a date to visit Texas. Bowens was recruited by the Longhorns in the class of 2023 and ultimately ended up choosing the Ducks over Texas A&M and Texas. The 6-foot-3 and 290-pound interior defensive lineman was a 27-6A first-team selection his senior season at Judson. Right now we are monitoring a possible return to central Texas. Bowens originally chose Oregon over Texas and Texas A&M in the class of 2023 and spent the fall of '23 and spring of '24 in Eugene before entering the transfer portal. And the latest is Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker was at Spruce Creek practice Monday to watch the 6-4, 270 pounder with 10.5 inch hands. Texas will host San Jose State cornerback Jayvion Cole for a visit beginning around noon this afternoon. Cole will remain on campus for his visit with Texas through Saturday as the staff presents its best pitch to the All-Mountain West honorable mention in 2023. The Longhorns are looking to add to the cornerback room following the portal departures of Terrance Brooks and Austin Jordan earlier in the portal window.
