Texas hosted 2025 Ruston (LA) cornerback Aidan Anding over the weekend for an unofficial visit. After receiving an offer from the Texas staff on March 28, Anding and his family loaded up the car and made the seven hour trip to Austin to watch the scrimmage live and in-person. "I enjoyed it," Anding said following his visit. "It was nice out there. They had a good practice with the coaches out there." Anding mentioned the physicality of the practice as something that stood out to him while in attendance. Also added that for the most part, the defense ended up as the victorious side of the scrimmage. While at practice, Anding told OTF he was able to keep…

New Official Visit Set + Spring Visit Dates *** 2027 South Oak Cliff DB Isaiah Udom has set an official visit for the Texas Longhorns for June 12-14, he tells OTF. Udom earned his Texas offer on February 2nd and has quickly risen the board to where an official visit was set. The Longhorns will also receive an unofficial from Udom on March 28th, which is becoming one of the more popular weekends of the spring so far. The 6-foot, 185-pound safety is currently unranked, but expected to be one of the biggest risers in the spring given the end of the winter where Texas, Florida, Missouri and SMU all offered. AUSTIN, Texas – The smell of cut grass and sounds of pads popping was what media members in the Texas beat walked into this morning at Denius Field as Texas began practice session No. 1 of the 2026 spring. I don't need to butter this article up much, we all know how much excitement there is going into year two of Arch Manning as the starting quarterback for the Horns. Especially given the portal additions and the returning prospects on campus. Texas added two 1st Team All-Conference running backs, the top wide receiver in the portal, a future NFL Draft pick at right tackle, a 1st Team All-ACC linebacker and an B1G Honorable Mention at cornerback. There is talent…

No. 11-seed Texas is one of the lowest remaining seeded programs in the NCAA Tournament after two days of action, and on Saturday night the Longhorns will look to keep their season alive against No. 3-seed Gonzaga in the Round of 32 (6:10 p.m. CT/TBS). Here's what UT head basketball coach Sean Miller said about facing Gonzaga. On facing Gonzaga: “We’re obviously thrilled to still be here in Portland and advancing in this tournament. Obviously, we recognize the greatness of the Gonzaga program and the consistency year in and year out. And, you know, I think knowing that they're our next opponent, there's a beyond a healthy level of respect between myself …

Prospect Wish List for the Texas Camp Season *** Jordan Scruggs contributed to this article. Camp season is here for the Texas Longhorns! While the month of June is synonymous with official visits for the class on the clock, it is just as important for top prospects in younger classes to get out to campus for camps and tours. We have seen the month of June set the stage for guys like Briceson Thrower, Brian Swanson, Ismael Camara, Cam Hall, Trenton Blaylock and Karnell James all rise up the Longhorns' Big Board in 2025. Now, who are some of the camp attendees OTF wants to see perform in the month of June? Jordan and myself each chose five pro…

Texas entered the race for Converse Judson 2028 ATH Jay’Maree Bowens on Apr. 23 when Jeff Banks made the short drive down to the San Antonio area to see the intriguing 6-foot-5, 215 pounder in spring ball practice. “Very exciting,” Bowens said of picking up the offer. “He came to my football practice, I had to do what I had to do, showed what I can do, how high I can jump, and I ended up getting the offer.” Bowens has effectively been a jumbo receiver his entire life, but he’s expected to eventually make the transition to tight end once he gets to college. Even though he already picked up the offer in April, Bowens made the trip to Austin and worked out at the M…

Already with six commits in the 2025 class, one position in the class that is not represented is the cornerbacks. The latest on Tilmon this evening: Those official visits Tilmon did not mention earlier are Baylor (June 14) and TCU (June 21). As for if Texas will receive one, there issue at hand is Tilmon finding time for them to squeeze in. Texas is pushing to replace one of the scheduled officials as you would expect. Texas might be fighting a bit of a taller hill here after offering so late in the process. Tilmon has been courted by the regional in-state schools for much longer. Baylor offered April 23, 2023 and TCU offered in September. Currently, the official visit schedule for Tilmon goes as follows: - SMU: May 31 - Utah: June 7 - Baylor: June 14 …

AUSTIN, Texas — Without Ryan Niblett’s Mr. October heroics last fall, Texas could have had a drastically different looking season. In a three-game stretch against Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Mississippi State, Niblett returned seven punts, averaging just over 38 yards per return, each time either finding the end zone or setting the Longhorns up in good field position at critical moments in the game. To put it into perspective of how impactful Niblett was in that stretch, that’s almost 12 yards more per return than the nation’s leader last season (Iowa’s Kaden Wetjen, 26.81). Niblett returns for 2026 as the nation’s best at the position, and is getting the recognit…

Which SEC Team has the Toughest 5 Week Span *** The SEC released the dates for the 2026 conference schedule. The conference is moving to a nine game slate with only one bye week in 2026, meaning the already very difficult gauntlet is getting ever more difficult. While Texas knows its fate, I wanted to go down the list of the other SEC schools and see which teams will be feeling the heat as conference play gets rollings. *** Alabama W6: Georgia W7: @ Tennessee W8: Texas A&M W9 – Idle W10 – @ LSU Vanderbilt also follows up the trip to Death Valley, but ultimately a very difficult five week span for the…

A couple of notes to be aware of for the 2026 class as the visit weekends heat up over the next few weeks. *** I mentioned in the Texas-UTSA game week thread, but will reiterate here – 2026 Euless Trinity OL Toa Katoa was hoping to be at Texas this weekend for the game Saturday evening but will reschedule. Right now, the hope is to attend the Georgia game on October 19. Katoa is one of the top offensive linemen in the state of Texas for the 2026 cycle and currently stands at 6-foot-3 and 355 pounds. *** 2026 Hartfield Academy (Flowood, MS) DB Bralan Womack tells me he is lining up his schedule to get back to Austin for a game at some point this s…

The Longhorns are back on the field for the first time in two weeks. No more weeks off for this Texas squad in the 2024 regular season which means if you have the opportunity to beat a bad football team and manufacture some rest for your starters, you need to take advantage. I predicted a 38–13 score in favor of the Longhorns for Saturday's kick, but here are the keys to victory for the ballgame. *** Strong 1Q I think this has been a constant for the last four ballgames if I remember correctly. Texas has failed to do this in the last three games at least. Florida is not going to be good at quarterback in this game and will look to shorten the game via …

AUSTIN, Texas — Three years ago Texas took five players out of the transfer portal, three of which had a big impact on the Longhorns’ 2023 success (Adonai Mitchell, Ryan Sanborn, and Gavin Holmes). At the time, Steve Sarkisian used the transfer portal as a supplemental, need-to-have basis. “Ultimately high school recruiting is where it’s at for us and our style of what we like to do,” Sarkisian said at the 2023 THSCA convention in Houston. “I know this whole era of NIL and transfer portal, the reality of it is, if I can, I want to recruit another high school kid. Now, there may be times where we can’t. I have to have another corner, or I have to have another defensi…

I made the trek from Fort Worth to North Forney on Saturday evening to make it to Briceson Thrower’s commitment ceremony where he chose the Longhorns. After Texas’ latest commitment picked up the Burnt Orange hat and made it official, OnTexasFootball caught up with Thrower’s Wide Receivers coach, Offensive Coordinator, and Head Coach to hear their thoughts on the Longhorns’ newest commitment. North Forney’s coaching staff was hired in the offseason right before the 2024 season and shortly before Thrower’s family moved down to the metroplex from Junction City, Kansas ahead of Thrower's sophomore year. Just as we did yesterday with the offense, here is a quick preview of what is to come with the 2025 Texas spring defense. Texas returns an All-American player at all three levels of the defense and will add the most impactful freshman class on the defensive side of the ball since Steve Sarkisian was hired. Of course, the big question remains up front on the defensive line – Has Texas done enough to be competitive, if not, what more must they do in the portal? But a defense that starts with Anthony Hill Jr. and Colin Simmons is a defense that has a chance to be special in 2025. The secondary, specifically at safety, is going to be fluid. Texas has plenty of …
