Texas is currently at 12 commitments for the 2025 recruiting class. In the next 14 days, we could theoretically see that number almost double. But I suspect it’s more likely we see the Longhorns add approximately 7-to-8 new pledges in that time frame. Let’s take a look position-by-position: Wide Receiver Texas will wait for Kaliq Lockett, Dakorien Moore and Jamie Ffrench to announce their decisions, all of which are expected in the month of August. Daylan McCutcheon, Kelshaun Johnson and Tanook Hines remain on the board. Despite the his visit, Andrew Marsh does not seem to be one to watch for the Horns Tight End Texas brought in Kaleb …

Hump day afternoon recruiting juice The Texas Longhorns are set to go on a recruiting run in the next three weeks. And OnTexasFootball believes the Longhorns could vault into the top 5 class ranking area come early August. There are a number of decisions that OTF is monitoring coming up, and we take a look at those with an eye on the West Coast first. Going back to Cali, styling, profiling? The Texas staff is awaiting a pair of decisions in the state of California. Four-star cornerback Dijon Lee (Mission Viejo, Calif./High) is one OnTexasFootball is monitoring ahead of his June 28 noon EST commitment. Alabama is the popular pick in the industry…

We'll use this thread to track all portal news that pertains to Texas baseball. I'll start with the news I broke yesterday: Texas landed a commitment from Penn pitcher Eli Trop. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound RHP has one year of eligibility remaining. Trop has a 3.07 career ERA, along with 82 strikeouts during those three years. I know some outlets reported this happened a couple of weeks ago, but Trop originally committed in the fall, as Ivy Leagues don’t allow a fifth year. So he entered his name into the portal in October. We've sat on it until he was okay with us going public with it after the coaching change.

Thoughts from a wild 24 hours Aggie destruction, Texas - Monday is one of the more action packed days in a long time for those of us in this business/industry and Texas fans. No fancy lead in, lets just get to it... Jim Schlossnagle and entire staff to Texas When OnTexasFootball said the contract had been signed, and many people on the Texas A&M side and such laughed at the notion, we didn't back off. And that was for reason. This is literally the most wild and gut wrenching way to bring back the Texas vs. Texas A&M rivalry with the Welcome to the SEC party in Austin Sunday. Not only did Texas take the head coach from the team that…

Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek 2026 wide receiver Chris Stewart has committed to the Texas Longhorns. Stewart, 6-0 and 175 pounds, committed to the Longhorns over offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma and 10 others. Stewart has been a target of Chris Jackson since being offered by the Longhorns December 8, 2023. The Houston area prospect returned to Texas June 1 for Elite Camp. He followed up by camping at Texas A&M June 8. He caught 35 passes for 564 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023 as a sophomore. Stewart becomes the second commitment of the 2026 class for the Longhorns. Four-star quarterback Dia Bell (Plantation, Fla…

Texas landed a commitment from Penn pitcher Eli Trop. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound RHP has one year of eligibility remaining. Trop has a 3.07 career ERA, along with 82 strikeouts during those three years. This has been in the works for quite some time, but I’ve sat on it out of respect for Trop. He originally committed in the fall, as Ivy Leagues don’t allow a fifth year. So he entered his name into the portal in October.

The University of Texas has its sights on a new head baseball coach. Jim Schlossnagle is set to become the next head coach at Texas, as first reported by Horns247's Chip Brown. Sources have indicated to OTF the hiring will be official in the next day or two. Schlossnagle spent three seasons at Texas A&M, leading the Aggies to two College World Series trips (2022 and 2024). Prior to his time in College Station, Schlossnagle spent 18 seasons at TCU where he and current Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte developed a tremendous relationship and Schlossnagle helped transform the Horned Frogs into one of the Big 12's most formidable programs. Texas fire…

The big info: - Not much has changed since yesterday. I fully expect it to be one of the two candidates I alluded to on Monday afternoon. Unless something drastic happens, Schlossnagle or Vitello will be the next head coach of Texas. - I'd expect an announcement tomorrow, although there's a chance it could be Thursday. The big picture: This is huge for Texas. HUGE. For so many reasons. Here's a quick rundown of some of those... - I've had numerous sources reach out to me today telling me this will open the door for recruiting in a major way and could even impact football recruiting. - This is going to help NIL efforts. Fans will be behind thi…

A couple of nuggets on this fine Tuesday morning. *** I exchanged messages with some folks this morning in regards to 2025 Folsom DL Josiah Sharma. OTF's Gerry Hamilton has done a great job with this recruitment. The big concern coming into the weekend was Alabama being able to use its preexisting relationship with Sharma to get the edge over the efforts Texas has been working on the last six months. Of course, Sharma was committed to Washington when DeBoer and his staff were still at UDub. Since the visit, the word I have received is more favorable to the Longhorns than it has been for Alabama. With a decision set to come Friday, I view the Longhorns …

Summer is officially here and the trail is getting hot! Texas has earned a commitment from 2025 St. Ignatius College Prep OL John Mills. Kyle Flood comes away with a huge victory off the west coast with the addition of Mills, beating out Washington as the largest competitor. Mills has the length and size to play the tackle position at the next level, but is best suited in my eyes to move to the interior. Regardless, the versatility provides a lot to like as Texas continues to win big on the offensive line. The 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive lineman becomes the fourth offensive lineman to join the 2025 Texas class, joining Devin and Jordan Coleman and Jackso…

What would Texas look like with Arthur Kaluma? Kansas State transfer forward Arthur Kaluma is currently on a visit to Texas with a decision expected out of Texas and SMU in the coming days. Kaluma, 6-7 and 225 pounds, has played three season of high-major basketball. He played at Creighton for two seasons before transferring to Kansas State for the 2023-24 season. He's also tested the NBA Draft waters, before returning to college. Kaluma has been a college combo forward with the hopes of developing a true wing skill set to make in the NBA long term. Should Kaluma pick the Horns, fitting the pieces together will be the most difficult task for Rodney T…

I'm told that Steve Sarkisian is expected to add long-time college recruiting coordinator and professional scout Bill Rees to his football staff. The exact role Rees will have with the team is unclear. Sarkisian re-tooled his off-field support staff this off-season following the departure of former GM Billy Glasscock to Ole Miss. Sarkisian elevated Brandon Harris to GM, John Michael Jones to Director of Player Personnel, Taylor Searels to Director of Recruiting and Kyndal Perry to Director of Recruiting Operations. Rees could easily slide into a director of scouting role left vacant by Bobby Merritt, who left Texas this off-season to become the GM at Rice. …

Lunchtime Recruiting Juice The news is moving fast and furious right now headed into July decisions. OnTexasFootball has been digging for gold, and came away with some lunchtime nuggets. Nicholas Townsend, TE, Houston (Texas) Dekaney One college recruiting Townsend believes Texas will be the pick July 8. That college thinks Texas A&M is trying to make it a fight. Alabama is not likely to be the pick, and USC is more hopeful than confident. Dakorien Moore, WR, Duncanville (Texas) High Oregon more than impressed over the weekend. Their presentation was second-to-none, including Texas and Ohio State. The 5-star will now sit back an…

The University of Texas will have a new baseball coach heading into the SEC for the 2025 season. Head coach David Pierce will not return following eight seasons in charge. Pierce accumulated a record of 297–162 while leading the Longhorns, including three trips to Omaha for the College World Series and regular season Big 12 titles in 2018, 2021 and 2023. In 2024, Texas finished a rollercoaster of a season with a 34–26 record, falling short as the three seed in the College Station regional after squandering a game late against Texas A&M and coming out very flat against Louisiana with the season on the line. With Pierce out of the job, the Longhorns will …

The final week of official visits has concluded and the returns continue to file in. While Texas hosted seven members of its 2025 recruiting class, there was plenty of opportunities over the weekend for Texas to continue its good standing with several uncommitted top prospects. *** WR Jaime Ffrench – Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin Battle: Texas, Tennessee, LSU Trending: Texas remains atop the list I felt good about this recruitment coming into the weekend and I feel good about it now. There has been plenty of movement both on and off of campus in regards to top prospects and the Texas Longhorns for the class of 2025. While official visitors are now back at home, there remains plenty of tidbits filing in from the weekend. *** 2025 Ruston CB Aidan Anding is back in The Boot following his time on campus. Texas did a great job with Anding this weekend and player host Derek Williams helped paint the picture of moving from Louisiana to Austin. Anding is expected to make a decision in his recruitment in the next week. *** 2025 Mansfield Timberview DB Nathan Tilmon has re-opened his recruitment after decommitting from SMU. Tilmon…

2025 San Juan Capistrano LB Madden Faraimo is headed back home to the west coast. The visit went very well for Texas and Faraimo on the weekend. Faraimo confirmed it was his second time on campus, he had originally visited in early April — a very under the radar visit that was not leaked out at the time. Texas, Notre Dame, Washington and USC are the contending teams. Johnny Nansen is doing a fine job here and the Longhorns have a real shot at landing Faraimo who mentioned a decision will come in the next couple of weeks. View full news story

Questions to be answered Steve Sarkisian and staff will close out the busy month of June later this morning with the last weekend of official visitors heading home. OnTexasFootball takes a look at some of the questions that will have to be answered as prospects get closer to making decisions. Jaime Ffrench and Kaliq Lockett Saturday night's festivities ended with at least five parents of visitors throwing the Horns up. One of those were the Ffrench's. OTF continues to like where Texas sits in the recruitment of the Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin High WR. What happens with Lockett remains more of a wildcard, but OTF was told that the Lockett famil…
