Texas is not giving up on the 6-1.5, 285 pound explosive defensive tackle. Brown and Kenny Baker had a lengthy discussion Tuesday night. From staff changes to high school commitments to picking up portal prospects, it's safe to say Jim Schlossnagle and his team kept me on my toes all weekend. Rumors are flying that Texas outfielder Max Belyeu could possibly be transferring to Texas A&M. After speaking with a couple of sources on Sunday afternoon, I can say that I do not believe that to be the case at this time. Obviously things can change at the drop of a hat, but that’s where things stand as of now. Belyeu was a crucial piece of the Horns offense this season, batting .329 at the plate, while hitting 18 home runs and 53 RBIs.

With the news of Josiah Sharma and Myron Charles selecting other schools, it puts the Longhorns in a precarious position at defensive tackle recruiting in the 2025 class. Texas, ideally, wanted 3-4 prospects at the position in the 2025 recruiting class. But the Horns only brought in five players for official visits. Three of those are now officially off the board, leaving only Brandon Brown and DJ Sanders. While Texas sits in a strong position for Sanders, Brown is still contemplating multiple schools despite his current pledge to Texas. When Rodney Terry assembled his staff, and Frank Haith was included on the staff, the team and play style that was referenced was the 2022-23 Miami Hurricanes team that knocked out Texas in the Elite Eight. That Hurricanes team had four guards that could put up 15-20 points on a given night, multiple guards that could go get/create a shot when half court offense breaks down against quality defense, terrific floor spacing due to five guards that shot 35% or better from three and the quickness/feel for the game to attack from multiple spots and from anywhere on the floor.
