Women's Sweet 16: 1 seed Texas vs. 5 seed Kentucky Game Thread The No. 1 seed Texas women (33-3) take on No. 5 seed Kentucky (25-10) today at 2pm in Fort Worth in the Sweet 16 of Regional 3. The Longhorns advanced to the Sweet 16 with wins over 16 seed Missouri State 87-45 and 8 seed Oregon 100-58, with Madison Booker scoring 40 in the win over the Ducks. Texas extended an offer to San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon offensive tackle Austin Attalah on Friday. The 2028 prospect, fittingly named Austin, says the Longhorns are now his No. 1 school. "I cried," Attalah told OTF. "Been a UT fan all my life." The Longhorns lead ahead of a long list of offers that includes UCLA, Oregon, Miami, LSU, and others. A freshman check-in: Derrek Cooper and Jermaine Bishop have been very early revelations on offense for Texas. Both offer the Texas offense something it otherwise lacks. Cooper has size and speed, and perhaps more shiftiness than people realize. That shiftiness and outright speed were the two things pointed out to me when I asked how Cooper compares to Cedric Baxter when he was a healthy freshman. Cooper simply has more speed and more shiftiness while also being similarly sized. Cooper has also shown excellent hands out of the backfield and a willingness to mix it up physically. Texas to Host Five-Star OL for Spring Game **** 2028 Carrollton (Ga.) OT Kweli Fielder tells OTF that he will be in Austin for the Texas Spring Game on April 18th. The 6-foot-4-inch, 310-pound offensive tackle prospect is currently ranked as the No. 2 offensive tackle according to the 247Sports Composite. The Longhorns offered Fielder back on January 29th, and now the Longhorns will get their first crack at hosting the Georgia native. For the second straight season the Texas women's basketball team has advanced to the Final Four. The No. 1-seeded Longhorns overwhelmed No. 2 seed Michigan, 77-41, on Monday evening. Texas will now face fellow No. 1 seed UCLA on Friday night in Phoenix (8:30 p.m. CT/ESPN). The Longhorns were led by Madison Booker's 19 points and Rori Harmon's 13 assists.
