2020 Class Rewind: 14 signees in CFP; and two award winners The Texas Longhorns signed the No. 9 ranked class in 2020 with Tom Herman at the helm. Herman was fired January 2, 2021 and Steve Sarkisian was hired the same day. Upon taking the job, Sarkisian and staff had the task of building a genuine winning culture in Austin. What Sarkisian inherited was a program with some talented players, not nearly enough, but in need of an overhaul. The freshman class at the time was the 2020 class, and their impact has been felt with the final members of the class exhausting eligibility in the college football playoff. After coaching the Longhorns to his first win in the 2025-26 home opener at Moody Center, Sean Miller said Heide is dealing with "a shoulder situation that we're monitoring." "We don't think it's anything that will keep him out for any length of time," Miller said. "We're optimistic that he could return this coming week and, potentially, the next game. Texas inked 24 prospects in the first signing day period for the 2025 class and currently sit with the No. 1 class in all of the land. From a broader perspective, this is a win for Texas. A big win. Texas extended an offer to Austin (Texas) Westlake offensive lineman Jackson Cook on Friday during an unofficial visit to campus for spring practice. It’s a significant moment in Cook’s recruitment.
