Sarkisian's out of state wins on the recruiting trail Steve Sarkisian and staff have brought national recruiting to the Texas program. With the commitment this morning of Jaime Ffrench, the Longhorns have seven commitments from out of state prospects in the 2025 class with a chance at 10 for a third straight class. Ffrench's pledge is a big one, as this is the first national recruiting win in the very talented Jacksonville (Fla.) area in the last 30 years, if not ever. Texas now has a 36 combined out of state signees in the 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 classes. The Longhorns have a total of 96 signees/commitments in the classes, meaning Sarkisian and …

The Texas Longhorns host the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday for the first time since 1951 and the second time ever. In fact, this is the furthest west Kentucky has ever traveled for a football game. Ever. Pretty unreal. But to the game itself, there is a reason this line is set at 20.5 by the computer nerds in Vegas. Texas has more talented on both sides of the ball, will be playing at home and are still in the running for all of their goals set at the beginning of the season – SEC Championship and College Football Playoff run. Five things I want to see for the Longhorns on Saturday which could lead to a victory. *** Start Quick Throughout the week, I…

THE PERCEPTION/RECRUITING WIN - Ranked as the consensus No. 1 cornerback and a consensus top 4 prospect in the 2027 cycle, Meredith is now the third highest-rated prospect the Longhorns have landed in the modern recruiting era according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. With a rating of 0.9994, Meredith falls behind only Vince Young (1.0000) and Arch Manning (0.9995) on the all-time list. - Texas won a head to head battle over Texas A&M for Meredith, who was the Aggies’ No. 1 target on the board regardless of position for the entire cycle. - Texas came from behind to get this done. Texas A&M and Alabama were the early leaders, but Texas never th…

Texas completed its first week of training camp on Saturday. The Longhorns were on the field exactly four weeks ahead of the season opener against Ohio State before coach Steve Sarkisian gave the team a day off on Sunday. Combining what I saw during the portions of practice open to the media Wednesday and Thursday with what the OTF staff has heard and reported on from closed sessions Friday and Saturday, there’s one thing on my mind at every position group on the roster. I’ll start with the position groups on offense. Quarterback Whether it’s Matthew Caldwell’s experience, competitive spirit or professionalism that has stood out most doesn’t matte…

Texas makes flurry of offers in North Carolina Jeff Banks went recruiting bonkers in the Tar Heel state Thursday. The Texas Longhorns sent national recruiting ace to the state that is absolutely loaded along the defensive front in the 2026 cycle to make offers to some of the nations best in hopes of getting as many as possible to campus this spring. OnTexasFootball provides a rundown of the offers from Thursday. Rodney Dunham, EDGE, Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park The 6-foot-4, 230-pound EDGE prospect doubles as a talented baseball prospect that touched 90 MPH on the mound last summer. The Longhorns were the 30th offer for the top 50 ranked prospect in t…

The Texas Longhorns and Ohio State Buckeyes will play one another for the first time since meeting in the desert in January of 2009. While the two programs typically are not familiar with one another, the Longhorns are certainly familiar with the QB Will Howard. The two have faced off four times prior to the meeting on Friday, all of which occurring while Howard was at Kansas State. Howard lost all four of those games, by the way. But, with a different level of talent surrounding him and the way the Buckeyes have been playing since the Playoffs began, it is going to be a completely different task to earn that fifth head to head victory. Several Longhorns sp…

DENTON, Texas — Waco (Texas) Midway running back Lathan Whisenton already has four official visits locked in for the summer: Texas (June 12-14), SMU (May 1-3), Baylor (June 5-7), and Texas Tech (June 19-21). After posting a 10.5 in the 100m last month, expect more programs to try and get in the fold for the talented Central Texas back. “Everything’s going great,” Whisenton told OnTexasFootball on Sunday at Under Armour Dallas. “That’s all I can say.” With the four official visits scheduled to in-state programs, does that shed light into Whisenton’s preference of staying closer to home? “I’d just say it’s just a coincidence that everything’s just in-state,…

AUSTIN, Texas — Steve Sarkisian spoke to the media this morning after Texas football's tenth spring practice. Here are five notable things the Longhorns head coach said. Spring game going to open practice on April 18 “We’ll have an opportunity to have a practice, and we'll do some drill work and different things. We will have a scrimmage portion of that practice. I just think we're at a point right now, especially at the line of scrimmage, where it's hard to field just two teams. But we'll have plenty of competition stuff. We'll move the ball, we'll tackle some on that day. It should be very entertaining for the fans, and so we're looking forward to that. I jus…

Georgia LB Raylen Wilson Speaks on Will Muschamp's Impact *** The beginning of day two at SEC Media Days belonged to the Dawgs. The 2x defending SEC Champions were on the podium, obviously headlined by Kirby Smart. My focus went to linebacker Raylen Wilson during the player breakouts. The 6-foot-1 linebacker totaled 74 total tackles for the Dawgs a year ago, including 2.5 sacks in 550 snaps in 2025. While Kirby Smart is the genius behind the Georgia defense, with DC Glenn Schumann sharing responsibilities as well. But there are other factors that have gone into making that side of the ball such a dominant force on the field over the last decade. O…

TAMPA, Fla. — Four more teams took the podium on Tuesday from SEC Media Days, including South Carolina. The Gamecocks added former Texas running back Christian Clark to the roster this offseason after the Arizona native entered the transfer portal. Clark was used sparingly in 2025, coming off an Achilles tear ahead of his freshman season in 2024. Against Michigan in the Citrus Bowl, Clark shined as the lead back, carrying the ball 20 times for 105 yards and a touchdown. We asked each of the three Gamecocks players in attendance on Tuesday for their thoughts on Clark. It’s safe to say he’s made a positive impression on his teammates in Columbia so far. QB LaNor…

Let's get into it – the keys of the game for the Texas Longhorns as they prepare to take on the No. 25 ranked Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday. *** Start Quick I feel like a broken record at this point, but it has to happen at some point right? Texas has failed to achieve this goal in all three SEC games they have played and depending on who gets the rock first, it might happen again against Vandy. The Commodores love to play keep away with the ball. Owning time of possession is a huge trait for their offense and their ability to protect the ball in the process is quite impressive. With that said, the best way to get Vanderbilt to abandon their game plan i…

Texas added a talented wide receiver out of the portal yesterday with the news of Stanford WR Emmett Mosley V signing with the Longhorns. As a result, the projection of the room in 2025 feels a bit more steady with another playmaker who has accumulated some time on the field and roughly 50 receptions to their name. While the Mosley addition will help stabilize the WR in case of injury next fall, the Longhorn receivers room remains rather young. Though, you could argue, the room will remain one of the more talented groups in the SEC. The SEC is continuing to evolve into the modern game, meaning wide receiver rooms across the conference will look for facelifts eac…

TAMPA, Fla. — Here's everything Steve Sarkisian said at SEC Media Days on Thursday. Opening statement “First of all, just some thank yous before we get going here. First of all, I'd like to thank Commissioner Sankey. I know his job is not easy, and I know in the midst of college football today and college athletics, there's a lot of change, and there's a lot that goes into his job. I can tell y'all from sitting in rooms with him and a lot of phone calls, he's trying to do what's best for our sport. Not just for the Southeastern Conference. He really is trying to do what's best for our sport. I'd like to thank the leadership at the University of Texas, you know…

The Texas Longhorns extended over two dozen offers at Sunday’s Elite Camp, and 26 scholarships to be exact. That’s the most new offers a Texas camp has ever produced during the Steve Sarkisian era. Here’s a quick breakdown of each prospect that picked up an offer. Jayshawn Mitchell, RB, San Antonio Brennan Likely the top running back in San Antonio now that Cibolo Steele’s Jonathan Hatton has departed for Oklahoma, Mitchell has a lot of similarities to Texas RB commit Noah Roberts as a legitimate pass catching threat out of the backfield that consistently runs sub-11. Mitchell might’ve only had 255 rushing yards, but he averaged 8.2 yards per carry and led…

Texas Defeats Ole Miss 79–68 *** AUSTIN, Texas – For the first time in 1,153 days, Chris Beard was back in the Moody Center coaching a basketball game. Of course, the firing of Beard left a nasty taste in the mouth of just about every one in Austin. Helped by the buzz in the Moody Center, Texas got off to a quick start. Texas was quick to Matas Volkietaitis in this contest and thanks to a 7-minute cold spell by the Rebels, Texas held a double-digit lead for the majority of the half, even extending it to as high as 18. At the halftime buzzer the Longhorns held a 37–25 lead, in large part due to a 14–0 run in the middle of the half to help provide t…
