The Texas offense currently can’t walk and chew gum at the same time. That much is clear. So every time I think it might be because of a lack of offensive ingenuity, I remember that this team can’t do the basics very well. Arch inexplicably fumbles a snap in the red zone. Given all of that, how is Sark going to be comfortable calling something that requires more finesse? This is not all on Arch though. The blocking in the red zone remains leaky at best, especially on the right side. Perimeter blocking is still an issue, as are penalties, as are running backs missing running lanes. The 6-foot-2, 223-pound sophomore put together a tremendous freshman season for Vero Beach High before sustaining a high-ankle sprain in the season opener in 2025. Texas has grabbed two commitments in the last week - running back Rickey Stewart of Tyler Chapel Hill and linebacker Elijah "Bo" Barnes of Dallas Skyline. Both elite prospects, both top choices of the coaching staff from the very beginning of the recruiting campaign. Their additions give the Horns six pledges in the 2025 recruiting class. Yet based on what we're hearing, even more pledges are on the way in the near future. The very latest on Damonic Williams TCU defensive line transfer Damonic Williams wraps up his visit to Texas this morning. OnTexasFootball was informed by someone close to the recruitment that the visit went as well as could be expected. The Texas program, culture, need at the position, Kenny Baker's presentation, and Steve Sarkisian's program in general all checked the boxes. Williams is expected to continue the visit process with a decision likely mid-to-late next week. Here is what I know about this Texas football team: 1. The defense is as good as I have seen from any Texas football team in my life. 2. Quinn Ewers is a guy you can win with, but not because of. 3. The NCAA Transfer Portal has been open for a week now. Feels odd to say with how much movement we have seen from not just Texas, or around the SEC, but the entire country. But yes, only one week. Texas Strength and Conditioning Program A Winner from the 2026 NFL Combine *** Texas sent seven players to Indianapolis this past weekend for the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, a number that dipped a bit from the two previous years, but one that is still worth being proud of. I have had some time to decompress from the beatdown in Big D over the weekend that involved the Texas Longhorns returning with the Golden Hat. We just witnessed the first meeting between both schools as part of the SEC, though if you watched the game you would have thought only one school had prepared for the last three years to enter the most physical and athletic conference in all of the sport. Texas was bigger, stronger, faster and more disciplined than Oklahoma. The final official visit weekend of the month of June will see upwards of 20 prospects arrive on campus for a weekend stay at The University of Texas in the next 24 hours. So far this month, Texas has earned one commitment based off of the official visits, with a handful awaiting to go public. A few final observations about the Texas season opener against Colorado State ahead of their trip to Ann Arbor to face the defending National Champions. *** I have yet to rewatch the entirety of the Michigan-Fresno State game, but that is on the agenda for some point today and into Wednesday. This title and headline would have been scoffed at and mocked just a few years ago. Of course Texas wins the offseason! It is the only time they win anything! It used to be a fun jab at the Longhorn program who was consistently underperformed on the field and in the developmental department.
