Congrats to Jaylan Ford, Jordan Whittington, Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell, Byron Murphy, T'Vondre Sweat and JT Sanders who all made their respective NFL teams' opening day rosters. Christian Jones, Jonathon Brooks and Keilan Robinson were all placed on one version or another of their team's injured list. Unfortunately, Ryan Watts suffered a season-ending injury in a pre-season game. What was first thought a stinger may actually be more serious. ** Several Horns were also cut yesterday, including: D'Onta Foreman, Collin Johnson, Caden Sterns (who never really made it back from injury) and Lil'Jordan Humphrey. ** Steve Sarkisian has a brief m…

At 21 commitments, Texas is trying to get to 26 or 27 in this recruiting class. Michael Terry and Javion Hilson are obvious targets at athlete and defensive end that Texas has every reason to feel good about. They would take Texas to 23 and leave 3-4 more spots available. And that leads us to defensive tackle where, as Gerry wrote this morning, Texas continues to purse more than a half dozen others to get at least two, possibly three. Gerry’s done a thorough job of discussing the DLs and the possibilities there. But what other position(s) is Texas really looking for? Clearly Texas wants another piece in the secondary, be it a corner or someon…

Here's everything Texas head coach Sean Miller said after the Longhorns upset Gonzaga, 74-68, to advance to Sweet 16. Opening statement “We’re obviously thrilled to advance, be a part of the Sweet 16. It doesn't matter how many times you have been there or not. It’s just a huge difference between being in that round and just entering the tournament, you know, having the opportunity to play through another week, be a part of a field that only includes 15 other teams, and obviously it's that next four-team tournament you're playing to get to to the Final Four. Just super proud of our group, our team coaches. Like I've mentioned time and time again, our ride has n…

From the Road: 5-star Easton Royal; future 5-star star visiting soon and more From somewhere in the Southeast Region - OnTexasFootball is on the road this week seeing some top targets and prospects. The first stop of the week was Monday in New Orleans to see 5-star wide receiver commit Easton Royal (New Orleans, La./Brother Martin). The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder made an unofficial visit to Ole Miss last weekend. It was his fifth or six time to Oxford, as the Rebels have been recruiting him as long as any program. This weekend, Royal and his mom will make their first ever trip to Knoxville to check out Tennessee. While Tennessee's offensive scheme isn't neces…

Former Texas linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. is a mainstay in mock NFL Drafts that predict the first two rounds. Hill has been as high as late first round in some projections, but mostly has stuck in the Round 2. On Tuesday morning, ESPN's Field Yates put out his Rounds 1 and 2 mock. Here's where he has Hill: Round 2, Pick 41 -- Cincinnati Bengals Yates: "Cincinnati's linebacker corps really needs help; Hill has as much splash play production as any linebacker in the class. He racked up 17.0 sacks and seven forced fumbles in three seasons, with natural movement skills defending the pass as well." Tuesday marks the Longhorns' Pro Day, so we'll see if the …

On Wednesday, the Division I cabinet of the NCAA passed a new rule to address the "ghost transfer" issue in college sports. The new rule: "Penalizes programs that sign a transfer student-athlete, add a transfer student-athlete to a roster, or allow a transfer student-athlete to participate in athletically related activities before the student-athlete is entered into the NCAA Transfer Portal." The new rule, effective immediately for all transfers after on or after Feb. 25, 2026, carries penalties that include: Suspension of the respective sport's head coach for 50% of a season Fine of 20% of that sport's budget. Texas head coach Steve Sarki…

The Texas Longhorns hold an Elite Camp every summer that's filled with prospects who already hold offers from Texas or are working out in front of the staff in hopes of landing an offer. Typically held the first weekend of June, the Longhorns moved this year's Elite Camp to the last weekend of May due to this year's calendar making the first weekend in June (6-8) an official visit weekend for the burnt orange. The Elite Camp has been a staple of offseason recruiting during the Steve Sarkisian era. This exact camp is where plenty of offers were extended to eventual Longhorns like Jamarion Carlton, Nicolas Robertson, Cameron Hall, and Greedy James amongst others. …

Texas opens fall camp next week ahead of one of the most anticipated Longhorns football seasons that I can remember. Here are five questions for fall camp. These aren't the only five questions, but five of the most important that Jeff Howe and I came up with. 1.) Who emerges as LG1? The position battle everyone is watching closest this fall. The Longhorns have a wealth of options to choose from, but who will emerge out of Laurence Seymore, Cole Hutson, Jaydon Chatman, etc.? TBD. Texas needs to be better on the interior in 2026 if it wants to reach its goals. Finding its best five on the offensive line before the halfway point of the season is critical. …

Texas hosted 2026 Oaks Christian (Calif.) DB Davon Benjamin for a three-day visit last Wednesday, leading into the final days of the spring season. Benjamin had been looking to get down to Texas earlier in the spring and was able to make it at the tail end, a big move for the Longhorns in this recruitment. OnTexasFootball caught up with the borderline five-star prospect to get his thoughts on the week in Austin and to see where things sit in his recruitment going forward. Above all, it was a successful first trip down to Austin for the Cali-native. "Overall, I loved it," Benjamin told OTF. "Austin is a great place to be. (Texas) is their pro team. You know…

The Texas baseball team took it on the chin this weekend. And perhaps deservedly so. The Horns played sloppy ball in both games against UTSA and the problems came home to roost. The lack of timely hitting, free bases awarded by the pitching staff and some spotty play in the field all combined to send the Horns home earlier than expected. But overall it was a good year. The Horns won the regular season championship and most importantly Jim Schlossnagle reestablished Texas as a true contender in college baseball. Recruiting is going extremely well and baseball looks like it’s in good hands for the long haul. ** The Texas football staff made 21 offer…

Texas traded in its pads and helmets when it wrapped up its spring season roughly two weeks ago. Of course, the big storyline following the spring game was Arch Manning, but a number of expected playmakers littered the highlight reel following the mock game. The spring portal window has concluded — for entrants, that is — however decisions will continue to come in over the next week or two. Texas of course, just went through a portal recruitment where they ended up on the short side of things. However, the Longhorns are hosting San Jose State portal CB Jayvion Cole for an official visit currently. He will depart on Saturday before heading out to Auburn for an …

For Texas recruiting fans, Gerry’s recruiting update from this morning should be required reading. If you missed it somehow, here’s the link. ** Sark mentioned three different injuries during Monday’s presser. Jaydon Blue DeAndre Moore Mo Blackwell Blue, who was seen in an arm sling post-game on Saturday, practiced with the team on Monday. Moore was on the field but did not participate fully, according to sources. Blackwell is still working his way back from a hamstring injury but is hopeful to play on Senior Day against Kentucky. ** A lot of people are worried about other teams using the three-high safety look a…

Earlier this week 2028 four-star running back Micah Rhodes decommitted from Oklahoma. The borderline five-star back from Klein Oak was part of the Sooners’ class for just a few months before backing off his pledge. Recently, Rhodes took two visits to Austin. “It was a great visit,” the rising junior told OTF of his visit to the Forty Acres last weekend. “I went in the meetings, got to see how Coach (Jabbar) Juluke coaches the running backs, went out to practice. I saw a lot of great things about their running backs and how they're playing their freshman. Honestly, I think the freshman (Derrek Cooper) is gonna start to be honest with you, because the way he was perfo…

DENTON, Texas — The unanimous No. 1-ranked cornerback in the country, John Meredith III, put his talents on display at the Under Armour Dallas camp on Sunday before touching on his recruitment with reporters. “It’s doing really good, nothing’s changed, for real,” Meredith told OnTexasFootball. As for the Longhorns, it’s all hands on deck to try and land the North Crowley standout. “Things are mutual,” Meredith said of UT. “Still talking to Coach (Mark) Orphey. Same relationship.
