  17. Texas women's basketball made a big splash on the recruiting trail on Thursday, landing 6-foot-7 center Jayla Forbes out of Monteverde Academy in Florida, she announced on her social media. Forbes chose the Longhorns over a long list of offers that included Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and UCLA, among others. The newest UT pledge has long been a top target of the Texas staff's, visiting earlier this year for a multi-day stay when the Longhorns faced Kentucky. Last season she averaged 10.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game at the high school level. She helped Team USA to a Gold Medal finish this year at the FIBA 18U AmeriCup, averaging 7.4 points an…

  18. The No. 2 ranked Longhorns are 13-0 heading into today’s matchup at South Dakota State. While they’ve had no trouble beating five Top 25 opponents (with the majority being in the Top 15) during that time, one thing that has been an issue is the health of the team. That is slowly changing for the better. The first positive development came earlier this week when senior guard Ashton Judd returned to the court in Texas’ 96-38 beat down of Northwestern State. Now, there’s more positive news for Vic Schaefer and his team, as I’m told that sophomore guard Bryanna Preston is cleared and could see action today. The only missing piece of the health puzzl…

  19. With their season coming to a close after a Final Four appearance, Texas Women's Basketball Head Coach Vic Schaefer and his staff are expected to be very busy in the portal over the next couple of weeks. While I've been asked to hold off on giving a name at this time, the staff is hosting a big time visitor this week. I can tell you she's an impact player who can score. I will provide more information on that later, but Texas feels really good on where things currently stand. Don't be surprised if the Longhorns close on this one. Next week is looking to be an extremely busy one as well, with multiple visitors expected on campus. One name to look for is…

  20. AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 1 Texas women’s basketball team made the most of its chance to claim at least a share of the SEC regular-season championship on Sunday with a 72-46 win over Florida at Moody Center. With the victory, coach Vic Schaefer’s team secured one of the top two seeds in the SEC Tournament. The Longhorns share the league crown with No. 6 South Carolina, a 78-66 winner over No. 15 Kentucky in Columbia on Sunday, after the two teams split their two-game series in the regular season. Coach Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks won a coin flip on Sunday afternoon, securing the top seed in the SEC Tournament. Still, Texas (29-2, 15-1 SEC), which entered the weekend a…

  21. As Texas prepares for the Final Four against South Carolina, I spoke with a couple of sources regarding the team, the future and more. - Texas felt they matched up really well against TCU in the Elite 8 and confidence was high in coming away with a victory (obviously for good reason, as Texas won 58-47). - The team is well aware that it gets harder this go round and they’re going to have to shoot better against South Carolina, but it seems they’re anxious to settle the score. One source said there is a quiet confidence in the locker room. I’m also told that they feel they are a “different team” right now versus the one that played SC in the SEC Tournament Cham…

  22. 2028 OL Lance Ciechanowski Recaps Texas Visit *** AUSTIN – Texas has been no stranger to recruiting Sierra Canyon School out in Los Angeles, California over the last 18 months. Now they have their sights set on another talented prospect. 2028 OL Lance Ciechanowski took his second trip to Austin this weekend and OTF caught up with him post-visit to get his thoughts on the Longhorns and his time on campus. 23. DENTON, Texas — OTF 4-star+ wide receiver Briceson Thrower Jr. is climbing recruiting boards across the country after an impressive junior season at North Forney. That includes Texas, where the 6-foot-3, 175-pound is a coveted target of UT wide receivers coach Chris Jackson's. “It’s a blessing for real,” Thrower told OTF of the attention he’s getting on the recruiting trail. “I see all these camps and stuff on YouTube, and now I’m out with the guys doing it myself. It’s a real blessing.” Thrower was on campus at Texas for Junior Day in January. The Longhorns offered him at Elite Camp last summer. “Really just how the relationship with me and Coach Jackson…

  24. In what was described as a “mutual decision” by a Texas source, the Longhorns and Arizona State are working to cancel their 2032-2033 home-and-home series. “We both agreed the game needed to be cancelled in order to be nimble moving forward,” a high-ranking Texas athletic department official told On Texas Football. Texas, under athletic director Chris Del Conte, has been known for scheduling notable non-conference opponents during his tenure. The Longhorns are in the midst of an agreement with Michigan and Ohio State and still have Notre Dame on the slate later this decade. But given the uncertainty surrounding the future of the college football playoff as …
