The 2026 Texas football schedule was released yesterday evening. Here it is: 2026 Texas Football Schedule Sept. 5: vs. Texas State Sept. 12: vs. Ohio State Sept. 19 vs. UTSA Sept. 26: @ Tennessee Oct. 3: IDLE Oct. 10: vs. Oklahoma (in Dallas) Oct. 17: vs. Florida Oct. 24: vs. Ole Miss Oct. 31: vs. Miss State (Halloween) Nov. 7: at Missouri Nov. 14: at LSU Nov. 21: vs. Arkansas Nov. 27: at Texas A&M ** Some thoughts: - Texas plays only one true road game all the way into November. But then the Horns finish with three of four on the road. - Tennessee is that early road game…

  2. Which SEC Team has the Toughest 5 Week Span *** The SEC released the dates for the 2026 conference schedule. The conference is moving to a nine game slate with only one bye week in 2026, meaning the already very difficult gauntlet is getting ever more difficult. While Texas knows its fate, I wanted to go down the list of the other SEC schools and see which teams will be feeling the heat as conference play gets rollings. *** Alabama W6: Georgia W7: @ Tennessee W8: Texas A&M W9 – Idle W10 – @ LSU Vanderbilt also follows up the trip to Death Valley, but ultimately a very difficult five week span for the…

FYI - could be some movement on the RB coach as soon as today. No promises, but seems it's headed in Juluke's direction.

  5. Derrek Cooper on new RB coach Jabbar Juluke OnTexasFootball spoke with Texas 5-star running back signee Derrek Cooper (Hollywood, Fla./Chaminade-Madonna) within the last few minutes. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder knows Jabbar Juluke from the recruiting process, with Jaluke working hard to recruit Cooper for the Florida Gators for well over a year. “Great coach," Cooper told OTF. "Great dude. Other coaches speak highly of him too.” Cooper and his mom are expected to have a phone conversation with Juluke at some point this weekend, but the two have already exchanged text messages. "I spoke with him via text. He said he was going to get on the phone wi…

Texas finished its first week of bowl practice. There are a number of opt outs, almost exclusively on defense. - Anthony Hill (NFL) - Manny Muhammad - Michael Taaffe - Trey Moore - Ethan Burke - Jaylon Guilbeau ** Muhammad has not announced his intentions to go pro a year early although that is the expectation. ** Tight end Jack Endries is likely headed to the NFL but has not made an announcement either. Endries is expected to play in the bowl game. ** Players who have announced for the portal are not expected to play in the game. That list includes: - Trey Owens - CJ Baxter - Connor…

  7. 2027 RB's Jabbar Juluke had offered at Florida The Texas Longhorns staff is currently evaluating junior video of prospects from the state of Texas and around the country ahead of hitting the road to evaluate the 2027 class one more time prior to late January Junior Day. That now includes new running back's coach Jabbar Juluke. This morning, OnTexasFootball takes a look at some of the running backs Juluke had offered in the class while at Florida. Landen Callis-Williams, Richmond (Texas) Randall 5-8, 190 Note: Texas has also offered http://www.hudl.com/v/2T6rcF Tranard Roberts, The Villages (Fla.) The Villages Charter 6-0, 195 Florida off…

  8. Started by Bobby Burton,

The run on Longhorns headed to the portal has slowed precipitously. There’s been no real movement since the middle of last week. Which begs the next question. Will there be another run after the bowl game? Probably so. Behind the scenes, there have been multiple discussions from players contemplating their next steps. But what I think we’re down to now is a group of players who would rather be at Texas than elsewhere and who are yet to be resigned to not being a major contributor next year. In other words, the players in the portal currently are ones who saw no real path forward to meet their personal goals. The ones who have stayed stil…

  9. Offensive line recruiting: Five 2027's stand above the rest Kyle Flood and the offensive staff have a number of 2027 prospects that have been offered, but not all offers are the same. This morning, OnTexasFootball runs down the five lineman in the cycle that have the absolute full attention of Texas. The makeup of the five is four tackles and a center prospect. All hail from inside the state line. Offensive tackles ... Brian Swanson, Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff 6-5, 305 Texas offer: June 1, 2024 Note: While others may be ranked high, Swanson is right there at the top or next to others ranked higher in the industry. http://www.hudl.com/v/2S…

  10. Watching the Portal This Week *** Texas currently sits with nine portal departures since the 2025 season began, and that number will continue to rise as the month of December continues. We are currently halfway through the month of December, meaning we are just over two weeks until the Texas-Michigan Citrus Bowl matchup and about 2.5 weeks until the portal officially opens up. While communications between agents and schools are ongoing behind the scenes, the players and schools cannot communicate directly until the portal officially opens its doors for business. And again this year, there will be a frenzy. Over the next week, this is what I will b…

The news of Liona Lefau to the Transfer Portal was a surprise to me. As a result, he will not be with the team when they head to Orlando for the game against Michigan. So let's look at who will be with the team on December 31st for the Citrus Bowl. *** • Anthony Hill Jr. – NFL Draft • Trey Moore – NFL Draft • Liona Lefau – Transfer Portal – LB TyAnthony Smith ... 364 snaps, 40 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles – LB Brad Spence ... 205 snaps, 48 snaps at linebacker in 2025 – LB Bo Barnes ... 24 snaps in 2025 – LB Jonathan Cunningham ... 16 snaps in 2025 – LB Marshall Landwehr ... 20 snaps in 2025 …

  12. According to sources, Texas wide receiver DeAndre Moore has told Texas staffers that he intends to enter his name into the NFL Draft. Moore will miss the Citrus Bowl because of a lingering toe issue that has had him in a boot for the last two weeks. Moore, a junior, has an additional year of college eligibility but has told Texas that he intends to enter the draft. He caught 38 passes this season for 532 yards and four touchdowns. In 2024, he totaled 39 catches and seven TDs. Texas expects receivers Ryan Wingo, Emmett Mosley V and Parker Livingstone to return in 2026. View full news story

  13. Started by Bobby Burton,

Amid the six starters on defense who had already opted out of the bowl game, it’s perhaps the seventh that will have the biggest effect. The loss of linebacker Liona Lefau, at least as it relates to potentially defeating Michigan in the Citrus Bowl, could be tough to overcome. Lefau is a between-the-tackles run-stopper, and that’s exactly where the Wolverines try to make their hay. There’s also the lack of depth at linebacker to consider. Beyond Ty’Anthony Smith and Brad Spence, Texas has just freshmen Bo Barnes and Jonathan Cunningham even on scholarship. ** Yet, over the long haul and into next season, this is likely the right decision for the L…

  14. How many season long starters will Texas have vs. Michigan? With the senior opt outs and intentions to enter the portal or draft being announced, seems like Tuesday morning would be a good time to look at how many season long starters will not play against Michigan in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl December 31. Offense... QB: Arch Manning RB: Tre Wisner (decision still to be made) WR: Ryan Wingo WR: Emmett Mosley WR: TE: Jack Endries (decision still to be made) LT: Trevor Goosby (Still hearing positives about a return) LG: Cole Hutson Center: Connor Robertson RG: D.J. 15. Takeaways From First Meetings With Jabbar Juluke *** Early reactions to Texas running backs coach Jabbar Juluke are in, and as expected, the early theme has been overwhelmingly positive. Those initial returns point to a noticeable uptick in energy from Juluke, something that has resonated with multiple people I’ve spoken with about the hire. One source described it as a “seasoned energy.” Juluke, now 53, brings extensive experience from the college ranks, and that background is already evident in how he carries himself and connects with players. I was also told Juluke’s first meeting with running back Tre Wisner went very well. Wisner faces a sign…

Some notes from practices and elsewhere… - Tight end Emaree Winston has looked good in bowl practices. While most think of Nick Townsend first among the duo of freshman tight ends, Winston is showing signs that he’s got a real future. - Safety Xavier Filsaime continues to take the next steps. Playing as much as he did late in the season, along with the departure of Michael Taaffe, has provided a lift during bowl practices. - Do not forget about Nick Brooks on the OL. I’m told the freshman may still be the most talented OL on campus. He just needs continued reps. - OLs Nate Kibble and Daniel Cruz have had good bowl practices. Both are under the microsco…

I know it’s Six-Man football, so individual production can be a little out of whack. But a few numbers still defy reason. Congrats to Bode Ham of Jayton. Not only did he lead his team to the 1A-Division II title, he accounted for 13 touchdowns on the day. He had more than 400 yards rushing and 10 TDs and 3 more TDs passing. The final score: Jayton 99 - Richland Springs 54. Have yourself a day, Bode. ** Alabama vs Oklahoma kicks off the CFP tomorrow night at 7pm. The Sooners are favored by 1.5 at home. OU beat them in Tuscaloosa. I see no reason the Sooners shouldn’t win in Norman, too. Alabama has been fool’s gold since beating…

  20. Started by Blake Munroe,

Apparently an outlet has recently reported that Texas defensive back Jonah Williams was hurt in practice. I've checked with a couple of sources on this and I'm told that Williams is practicing. He did suffer a minor setback last week, but it was not serious. Texas was off yesterday, but he's been a full participant in practice. Jonah is also expected to try and balance both football and baseball this spring. He most likely won't be a full participant in spring football, however.

The latest from Austin, Texas. *** There remains several exit meetings with Steve Sarkisian, Brandon Harris and Texas players on Thursday. I can only imagine the Microsoft Office schedule for the Texas head coach and general manager won't have much time set away for Christmas shopping this week. I would expect news soon on a pair of decisions. OTF is monitoring a decision from TE Jack Endries regarding the NFL and a return to Austin. Additionally, a decision from RB Tre Wisner which includes all three avenues (NFL, Portal and a return). – Additionally, there remains no news until news is made on the portal front of Jadan Baugh. "Boom!" In the words of Bobby Burton! Texas has earned a commitment from 2027 TE JT Geraci out of Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey. Geraci becomes the third commit in the 2027 class, joining DB Greedy James and WR Easton Royal. The 2027 tight end is listed at 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds. He was honored as an All-Bergen County and All-Northeast team for his 2026 performance. Geraci chose the Longhorns over a top five of Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Vanderbilt. 24. Welcome Back to Austin, Will Muschamp *** First and foremost, I am really excited to read and hear from @Bobby Burton, @Gerry Hamilton and @Jeff Howe tomorrow on the board when it comes to recapping the hiring of Will Muschamp as the Texas defensive coordinator. As someone who was about 12 years old when Muschamp was generating elite defense after elite defense on the 40 Acres, I grew up with a sense of the Brian Orakpos, Keenan Robinsons, Sergio Kindles, Alex Okafors, Lamar Houstons, Earl Thomas's and many others being larger than life. They were titans. For a youthful CJ, all finished their careers as legends to me. I can't help but be excited for wh…

  25. Will Muschamp thoughts, Jadan Baugh and recruiting What a day on the Forty Acres Thursday. One of the very best pure coaches on a side of the ball that has ever donned the burnt orange and white has returned to Austin. Make no mistake, this was a very good day for Texas football. My thoughts this morning will start there. And I'll also hit on Jadan Baugh and a couple of recruiting thoughts. Thoughts on Will Muschamp ... First off, I met Will Muschamp in 2008 shortly after he was hired at Texas. To say I'm a fan of his as a defensive coach would be an understatement. And pure coach in general. As the son of a Texas high school football coach of 40 …
