This truly has been one of my favorite game previews. Texas has played in several big games since I started covering the program, none have been against the defending National Champions. There also have been fewer programs that have seen as much turnover as Michigan on a year to year basis, especially after seeing how much success they had a year ago. The late run on the transfer portal continues for Texas, as the Longhorns have added a defensive back to the fold in Brown cornerback Nick Hudson. The Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek product is entering his redshirt senior season after appearing in just seven games in 2025. For his career at Brown, Hudson tallied 52 tackles and 13 pass breakups in 27 games. Entering 2025, Hudson was a Third Team Phil Steele Preseason All-Ivy selection. Hudson is the nephew of former Colorado standout Chris Hudson, who was an All-American and Jim Thorpe Award Winner in 1994. The Texas Longhorns have had boatloads of recruiting success since Steve Sarkisian arrived in Austin in January of 2021. So much so that of the 25 highest-rated all-time commits per 247Sports Composite (modern era goes back to c/o 1999), seven are players Sarkisian recruited. 14 were Mack Brown recruits. Three were Tom Herman’s (really two since Bru McCoy technically counts as a signee), and one was Charlie Strong’s. Four-star DL locks in Texas official visit Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker made a stop at Greensboro (Ga.) Greene County High today to see 4-star defensive lineman Kevin Wynn. The result of the visit was Wynn, 6-2 and 315, locking in an official visit to Texas June 14-16. Wynn has OV’s scheduled to Georgia May 31-June 2, South Carolina June 7-9, Texas June 14-16 and Florida State June 21-23. Florida State and Alabama are considered the top two headed into the official visit process.

The Texas Longhorns now hold four offensive line pledges after Thursday’s commitment from Lucas Rhoa. Rhoa has been recruited to play all five positions at Texas but will likely end up playing guard or right tackle. Texas linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. is the first Longhorn off the board in the 2027 NFL Draft, headed to the Tennessee Titans with the 60th overall pick in the second round. Hill, a former five-star recruit from Denton (Texas) Ryan, has been projected in the second round for much of the draft process after a stellar career in Burnt Orange. Hill burst onto the scene as a true freshman on the road at Alabama, recording six tackles and two sacks.
