Happy Total Eclipse Day!!!
- Four-star RB Rickey Stewart commits to Texas
Welcome to the Longhorn family Rickey!- Post Combine Mock Draft Central
Yeah I don't think it will happen, but with Jerruh, he easily could since he doesn't have much depth there and no money to sign anyone it seems.- Post Combine Mock Draft Central
NFL.com - Chad Reuter Worthy - 19 (Chiefs), Murphy - 25 (Bills), Sweat - 48 (Jaguars), AD - 49 (Bengals), Sanders - 53 (Eagles), Brooks - 56 (Cowboys) https://www.nfl.com/news/four-round-2024-nfl-mock-draft-jets-take-te-brock-bowers-chiefs-trade-up-for-speedster-in-round-1 It's a 4 round mock but didn't see Jones on there but a other one with 6 in the first 2 rounds. Could definitely see the Cowboys take Brooks since Jerruh let all the RBs walk lol- Fun Longhorn Draft History/Facts
With the Pro Day today I figured I'd look up some Longhorn draft history and came across a couple of interesting things. Since the draft went to 7 rounds in 1994, the most Longhorns draft in a single class was 7 in 2007. I think Texas will definitely tie that number in this year's draft, unless something crazy happens, and could pass it. I think the locks are Murphy, Worthy, Mitchell, Sweat, Sanders, Brooks, and Jones. We had four others go to the combine so only need one of those to go in the late round. I'm seeing Ford and Whittington in some late rounds in some mock drafts. Those first 7 are also spread across 5 of the 8 main football positions in my eyes (QB, RB, WR, TE, OL, DL, LB, and DB). Could go to 6 or 7 positions depending on if and who gets drafted out of the other 4 combine invites. I guess this is what development across the board looks like! Additionally the most the Longhorns have had in back to back drafts was 13 in 2006 and 2007. So we could tie that too. Final fun fact, the Longhorns hold the record for most ever draft picks from one college in a single draft with 17 in 1984!- Post Combine Mock Draft Central
6 in the first two rounds would a great recruiting tool!- 16 team playoff
And most every other sport play almost three times the game football does. Do you think a three loss team is the best team in the league? That's what has been special about football is that the best team win the championship, not a Cinderella story imo. I don't want college football being like all other sports. If you looked at the championship weekend last year, the top 8 teams were the only ones really in contention, why go beyond that?- Spring ball transfer portal casualties
I agreed we could possibly add three more but I really think they probably will only add one more IDL unless the guys don't step up like they hope. Like I said previously, we are really young at a lot of positions so I don't see a lot leaving for PT. Yeah we may push a guy or two but not many older guys are behind the younger guys except an OL, maybe two, an edge, and a LB. Maybe a young WR gets ancy and leaves but I personally am not seeing more than that- Spring ball transfer portal casualties
That seems high to me, let's hope it's not that many. I think after last year we might be able to keep players to wait their turn. We are really young at a lot of spots so you'd think they'd wait it out. Think we saw the big exodus in December imo. There was 13 then not seeing how over 20 guys would leave in a single offseason in my eyes.- Recruiting DL seems tough for Texas
I've asked that question on multiple sites and the mods their really haven't been able to give an answer. I get it's hard to pull the top guys out of SEC with Bama and Georgia who they were, however when Hicks grew up a Longhorn fan and it was said he was down on the Longhorns due to us not winning, only to go to A&M after having a 5-7 season and us 8-4, made no sense to me. I like they got a NFL coach to a point, but it was limited NFL experience and limited college experience too. We will see if that pays off this year. Like one poster said it's March so he has time to show us what he has imo.- Recruiting DL seems tough for Texas
That was the first year, this is year 3 of the same issue. Worth discussing imo- Spring ball transfer portal casualties
I don't think we are going to take that many on the portal. I could see maybe 3 but that even may be high imo unless we have a lot of season ending injuries. Only place we need a transfer is IDL imo- Spring ball transfer portal casualties
We are 4 over so there has to be attrition. And any more we take on during the spring portal will be 1 for 1 imo. OL is a position we could see one or two imo, maybe 1 IDL. Maybe an EDGE or LB or two. After that it gets into territory you don't want to see some leave imo.- If Signing Day were today (Thursday 3:39 p.m. CST)
All 25 have work to be done since there are over 200 days to go imo.- Awful News GPNS athlete killed last night
Prayers for his friend and family for healing 🙏🙏🙏- Post Combine Mock Draft Central
CBS - Josh Edwards AD - 15 (Colts), Murphy - 16 (Seattle), Worthy - 24 (Cowboys). https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2024-nfl-mock-draft-with-free-agency-twist-how-making-one-move-for-all-32-teams-would-impact-the-first-round/ Feel sorry for Worthy if that happens but 2 essentially top 15 and 3 top 25 would look really good.- Big 12 Basketball Tournament Bracket
Here's an article with the bracket, times, and channels: https://www.on3.com/news/2024-big-12-basketball-tournament-seeds-bracket-schedule/- Post Combine Mock Draft Central
ESPN - James Meche First one I've seen with Murphy a top 10. Murphy - 9 (Bears), AD - 32 (Chiefs). Not sure he's gonna go that high but what be awesome to have back to back drafts with a top 10 https://espnsouthwestlouisiana.com/meches-mock-draft-1-0-3/- Update on DB recruiting (Thursday 12:58 p.m. CST)
Sure thing!- Update on DB recruiting (Thursday 12:58 p.m. CST)
Dark mode provides some text normal, some in white (like copied from somewhere), and some in black that can't be read in dark mode- Four-star Jordon Davison has his official visit set to Texas
From what I've read, seems like Ohio State is making a big push and a legit threat. Would you concur with that?- Down the Rabbit Hole | 3+ First Rounders in NFL Draft
Wow, that's a lot of research. Thanks for taking the time CJ!!!- Transfer Portal QBs
I'm not sure he will even start. They got Julian Sayin and I know true freshmen starting is rare and rarely works out, but think he could beat out Howard.- Four-star OT to visit Texas (Tuesday 5:01 p.m. CST)
Gotcha, I can see that perspective. Appreciate the response!- Down the Rabbit Hole | 3+ First Rounders in NFL Draft
Great rabbit hole CJ! Really surprised to see SMU not having one back during the early 80s. What website did you use for this rabbit hole, would like to take a look at it myself. - Four-star RB Rickey Stewart commits to Texas
