It seems like Keelon Russell will be a great quarterback. He is from the state of Texas. And H seemed to want to be at Texas. All that on the surface could make this feel like a miss. The question becomes was he going to be willing to sit for 2-3 years? You're Elite 11 MVP and you don't see the field until after Arch and maybe Trey Owens? Do you stay? Will be the same question for KJ, but maybe the loyalty matters a bit.

If Auburn's NIL deal is strong enough, does he have to be on scholarship? Why not keep him as a walk-on? I wonder if we will see NIL deals pop up at 1 time payments for players to leave. Almost like a buyout. $125K for Max Merrill to move on? Max seems like a great kid. But I'd trade him for a starting NT in a heart beat.

I've met JJ. He's crazy smart. And as a UT Comp Sci grad, I have no doubt he could pull it off. He's also focused and incredibly disciplined.
