Texas Baseball Continues Rise In Polls
Nah I meant that, since they're already #1 — and they won't pick up many losses in a relatively weak conference — they have a super clear path to staying #1 all season.

Texas Baseball Continues Rise In Polls
They have better wins. Classic dilemma (compare to football playoff debates about 3-loss Texas vs. teams with better records but worse SOS). Not that it matters too much, but that's my take on why they're unanimous No. 1. And with the Big 10 schedule, expect UCLA to be the No. 1 overall seed come tourney time.

Baseball Game Thread: No. 3 Texas vs. USC Upstate (Sunday)
So happy for Josh. It's hard to get opportunities on this team, given Temo crushing and A Rod not missing time (3B platoon possibility), Schloss committing to one guy at first (1B platoon possibility), and fellow lefties Larson and Jonah starting hotter (LH DH competition). But he's a guy who can raise our season-long ceiling, and I'm so happy he paid off Jim's investment this weekend and broke through!

Jonah Williams update (Sun. 1:52 pm)
Thanks so much @Hank South! Even just passing on that yall don’t know yet. I continue to be surprised/frustrated with the secrecy of the parties around everything Jonah related (What was injured? What is the plan starting tomorrow? Etc) Also I’m wondering what that limit is and what counts (baseball games you don’t play in? All the time “around” the games? Recovery work? Etc) so we can crunch the numbers lol

More great offense! Lead off double (have a day, A Rod!), becerra gets him over, pack gets him in! Sharp offensive execution today

At least Livingston is putting together good ABs this weekend! I really want him to get it going. The baserunning choices leave something to be desired though. Second straight day. Just want this team to sharpen up between the ears.

Need better effort from pack there (and better focus from Dylan—Schloss is right to have gotten animated with him). Frustrating because those things have nothing to do with talent.

I didn’t think there would be any causal impact this weekend, and that we’d find out more about their plan starting Tuesday on. (Especially yesterday could be easily explainable: cold weather and a wet field and delays/restarts aren’t conducive to Jonah’s soft tissue injury prone self.) But yeah—inquiring minds want to know what the plan is!

Great offense that inning! Putting the ball in play, taking advantage of slow times from pitcher and catcher, and executing sacs. Love it

Man, he hung that 2-strike curve like a mf, but we'll take the result and escape!!!

I think tonight is an outlier and over the course of a season, the bullpen will prove to be a massive comparative advantage over other programs (like most experts believe). Not making excuses for tonight, just don't believe this is evidence of underlying problems or a pattern at this point It's hard to come back after a rain delay, Even just over the course of the whole season so far, this is very much an outlier Walls, and even Hamilton, are not our highest-leverage guys. Burns hasn't been super sharp, but if this is a one-run SEC game, we're seeing different arms throughout.

@Blake Munroe I can barely stand to watch A Rod swing. Could you perhaps do a quick video catching us up on the history of that injury, what they've tried, and what his prognosis is? From the very little I've heard, it sounds like the surgery thing was a bit of a hail mary, and they don't know what's wrong or how to fix it? I feel terrible for the kid — he has a real future if this can get resolved — but this can't go on. And even just selfishly, I can hardly bear to watch

Best defensive play we've seen from Pack so far. I've been surprised by how much his routes and tracking need to improve. But he tracked that one well, and navigated being near walls. Good sign! So excited to see him fill out around his super advanced hit tool in the next couple years

Tone-setter. He brings the juice and carries us when we’re stagnant. So impressed with his intangibles (beyond just the cumulative production)

Texas Baseball: Some Movement In Polls
These polls don't actually matter, but I just want to sht on the opinions of PG and BA because it's fun!! What are your polls measuring? Is it ranking actual resumes so far, the eye test of the "best team," most likely to win it all, predicting how the committee will rank teams for the tourney (they are ranking through 32 this year for the first time)... On resume, eye test, or most likely to win it all: I don't see any way Texas should be lower than 3. Only way they could justifiably be lower than 3 is if your poll is predicting end of season rankings, where an SEC schedule means you will take more losses vs. the "grade inflation" for Southern Miss, TCU, Oregon, USC, Oregon St, etc... and even the ACC teams in what looks to be a weaker year for them. But except GT, those teams are already behind Texas, so it can't be this... Therefore, these polls are *Trump voice* WRONG! 😂 Anyway, these polls (opinions) don't actually do anything in the real world. I can't wait for SEC play to start and to see how Jim manages toward peaking at the right time this year.

Baseball Game Thread: No. 3 Texas vs Ohio State
Took care of business! Not the sharpest weekend, but you love the 3-0 and what you saw from Riojas and Becerra especially. Robbins' big game, Larson, Courville earning more time, Jonah in the field and acclimating, Burns, Crossland, Leffew, even Borba showing proof of life (and/or luck). Continuing a great start!

A theme for Pack so far has been some trouble tracking balls. I had been writing it off as "RF is tough at the Disch" but it seems to be a Thing at this point

It hurts me that A Rod's hand is still hurting. It's been obvious for a while this season already. But it sucks for him and it sucks for the team. And it's painful to watch. He has real pro potential, and I hope he can figure out what the problem is. Clearly the staples thing (or whatever out-of-left-field thing he tried) didn't work.

Just ran into JoeZura
I thought that message might've already been implied by displaying himself on a riser with "open to the public" 😉
