So, aside from any additional documents that may be requested by the judge, the arguments are over and now it's just a waiting game for the judge to issue a ruling. Is that correct.

Completely agree. It doesn't even make sense from a scheduling standpoint. If Texas had lost the first game, there would have been roughly a six-hour gap before the Alabama vs. Tech game started.

Solid cliff notes. Haha. That's exactly what I've read as well. The only thing I'd add is Kessler bringing up the comparison to a volleyball coach who allegedly bet $350,000 and only received a 30% suspension, then trying to equate that to Sorsby's case, which is pretty laughable.

Lawyers out there: how long would you expect the Sorsby hearing to last before the judge issues a ruling? I know Kessler is asking for a decision before June 15. Is there any realistic chance it actually takes that long, or would you expect a ruling much sooner?

You’re completely correct. The way I wrote that didn’t really come across how I intended — I’m not always the best at articulating my thoughts. Haha. What I meant was, had Sorsby just accepted the NCAA ruling, the whole world probably wouldn’t have known just how serious the gambling situation was. NFL GMs would’ve 100% uncovered it during their own investigations anyway. But now, on top of that, you also have the pressure of public opinion. I know GMs are ultimately going to do what they want, but that outside scrutiny certainly doesn’t help Sorsby.

Wonder if Paul Finebaum would like to change his opinion now.🤷🏼‍♂️😂

Can’t say I’ve seen anyone on here making a statement that would indicate that.

I honestly have no idea how situations like this normally play out. But now that a lot more of the facts are out, would it have been smarter for Sorsby to simply say, “I appreciate Texas Tech’s support, but I’m not going to fight the suspension and will enter the draft”? At least then, all of these details in the court complaint may have never become public. Or would this information have come out regardless, even without the injunction case? It just seems like all of this being public could hurt his NFL chances even more.

What a massive black eye for Joey and the entire Tech administration on this issue. You know they had the full story on all the bets two days ago when Joey got on the mic trying to downplay everything. And this whole narrative of “he only bet on his team” is completely false. Unless Tech somehow doesn’t understand that taking the under on passing yards is, in fact, betting against your own team. Also, how ridiculous does that “2-game suspension” look now that more of the facts have come out?

Absolutely not — unless I missed Indiana coming out and saying they support Sorsby’s return to college football after betting on his own team. That’s Tech’s issue, since they’re the ones footing the legal bills and publicly backing a QB who admitted to betting on his own games.

This exactly! You’d think Sark said Tech sucked, had a terrible roster, and completely bashed the program. It’s laughable. I’d bet the majority of people saying stuff like “Joey called out Sark’s bluff” don’t even know what question Sark was actually asked.

With all due respect, that’s a horrible take if that’s what you’re getting from the comments. Tech plays a weak schedule — even Tech fans can’t really dispute that. Why is it Texas’ responsibility to help strengthen Tech’s schedule? Because Sark pointed out the obvious? Texas already has a solid non-con schedule lined up through 2030.

Completely agree. I will say, though, coming from a 2A school in high school, it was always a blast playing bigger programs and knocking them off. So I get where Tech is coming from haha.

I’d add another stipulation: C) Cody Campbell donates $5 million to Texas’s NIL fund. He’s got an extra $5 million with Sorsby off the books.

So they want to play Week 1 when they might not even have Sorsby, and their backup QB is coming off ACL surgery? Doesn’t seem like the smartest move over there in Lubbock.

Well, taking back $5 million certainly wouldn’t help Sorsby’s mental health, and Tech has been very outspoken about protecting and supporting his mental health. Obviously, this is a joke before anyone takes it seriously.
