  1. Juluke: "Football is all I know."
  2. Juluke: "I coach running backs with a lot of pride. You don't need us until you need us. We're undervalued."
  3. Juluke said he didn't coach running backs until he got to Louisiana Tech. He initially interviewed for a spot on Skip Holtz's staff as a defensive backs coach.
  4. I just want to point out that Mike Elko and I are the only two people in the room wearing long-sleeve Dri-FIT hoodies. Make of that what you will.
  5. Along those lines, Bohl said: "We're not going to work any more, we're just going to work smarter." Based on the feedback he's gotten from coaches, coaches want more access to working with their players and players want to be coached.
  6. Some really good stuff from Craig Bohl on the offseason format. He said something that I've thought, which is that the traditional offseason model of spring practice and summer conditioning is outdated.
  7. They want agents registered, they want enforcement, and they want a 5-percent cap.
  8. On the Preserve College Sports Act, Bohl said the AFCA's main mission has been to get agents on a nationwide registry.
  9. Craig Bohl of the AFCA said college coaches aren't demanding a seat at the head of the table when it comes to making decisions that impact the future of the sport, "but we want a seat at the table," he said.
  10. Interesting note that Texas Tech's roster size is 109, according to McGuire. He said Tech has guys who were grandfathered into the roster cap under a Designated Student-Athlete tag, meaning they don't count against the 105 cap. That's part of the House settlement, which prevents schools from cutting players just to get under the roster cap.
  11. McGuire on Tech's quarterback situation: "If Will Hammond never gets hurt, we don't have to go into the portal."
  12. Joey McGuire's press conference is happening right now. "This is the last part of talking season," he said.
  13. Considering that Sark, Dykes, Elko, McGuire and Lashlee have been to the CFP, Aranda has a Big 12 title, what Traylor has done at UTSA, what Kinne has done at UIW and Texas State and that Fritz has won everywhere he’s been… that’s not as crazy as it might sound to some.
  14. Just caught up with Tyrone Swoopes. He’s in his second year as an assistant coach at Lindale.
  15. The panel discussion is over that’s it for Blake and I from Houston today.
  16. I’ve been coming to this deal for years and the longer the panel goes on, the closer we get to the Q&A portion turning into the end of the academic decathlon in Billy Madison.
  17. Especially premium positions. Quarterbacks, left tackles and pass rushers specifically. Those guys aren’t cheap in the portal.
  18. He’s just a ball coach. And a very good one at that.
  19. Sark: “We think we’ve got a heck of a team.”
  20. Sark, as he puts his arm around McGuire: “Joey and I are good. We’re sitting next to each other.”
  21. North Texas coach Neal Brown, who was a special assistant at Texas last season: “I appreciate Coach Sark for bringing me back to Texas.”
  22. I asked Sark about the Hutson situation today at the THSCA convention in Houston:
  23. I didn't go. That was the same time as Sark's press conference.
