  1. I shouldn't know the names of umpires. It's usually not good when you do. The fact that Jeff Head is behind the plate means you have to do what you can to not put the game in his hands.
  2. That's a 1-2-3 inning for Montgomery. He's held Texas to two hits through three.
  3. One of the few fastballs Montgomery has thrown today freezes Robbins. Looked like it was well outside, but Robbins is rung up on strikes regardless.
  4. Not yet, but let's see how Tinney and Robbins do here.
  5. Texas is having trouble picking up Montgomery's off-speed stuff.
  6. Great throw by Tinney on an attempted steal by Mendez. The inning ends when he's called out for running out of the baseline. Riojas works around a leadoff single to keep it a one-run game through two complete.
  7. Borba made contact, but a groundout to third ends the inning.
  8. Here comes Casey Borba, with A-Rod on second and two outs. He's 1-for-11 in the regional with four strikeouts.
  9. A-Rod wanted to go for two, but he'll settle for an opposite-field single. That ball had eyes as it scooted by third base and into left field.
  10. UCSB gets on the board with the home run. Riojas minimizes the damage and retires the other three Gauchos who came to the plate.
  11. That's three of Ruger's last four starts in which he's allowed a home run. The only time he didn't was against Missouri, when he faced one batter.
  12. UCSB is up early on a Rowan Kelly solo home run to right field. Texas trails for the first time in the regional, 1-0.
  13. Good stuff! For a generation of collectors, the '89 Upper Deck Griffey is our '52 Topps Mantle. It might be the most iconic baseball card ever printed.
  14. It's good to see Ruger's velo up to 96 mph in the first inning. He was in the mid-to-upper 80s against Missouri. Now, he just needs to find the strike zone.
  15. Becerra flies out to right, ending the inning with Pack stranded.
  16. Pack rips a two-out single through the right side, keeping the inning alive.
  17. Tinney scared everybody to death for trying to dodge a tag while running to first base. I hope he never tries that again.
