Sark on the staff's recruiting process: "We don't chase stars."

The last few seasons, Sark said they'd use the third week of camp as a primer for the big non-conference game. This year, they'll start preparing for Ohio State during the third week of camp and stay after it until the game.

Sark said he'll use two full weeks of camp to get ready for Ohio State. It'll be a lot like a bowl game, he said.

Sark is excited about the season because Michael Taaffe is the only player left on the roster who was on the 5-7 team.

Sark: "I don't really care about the rankings."

Sark said one of his goals in the next 12-24 months is to "corral the state of Texas" and figure out how the Longhorns can do a better job of recruiting the state of Texas.

"This is the kickoff to the season for us," Sark said of being at the THSCA convention on the heels of SEC Media Days.

On Chad Scott, he's one of the few running backs coaches I've heard in a clinic setting get into the nuances of pass protection. Again, there were some good Tre Wisner clips of what he did during spring practice while protecting the quarterback.

It's arguably the biggest battleground city for recruiting in the SEC footprint.

His press conference isn't until tomorrow, and I won't be here for it. Not sure who will be here to hear him say whatever he has to say.

Houston coach Willie Fritz is meeting with reporters at the convention right now. Sark is next in about 20 minutes.

I’ll say that in this setting, Scott doesn’t have the same kind of juice as Tashard Choice, but what Choice brings to the table is hard to replicate. Scott could wind up being a better teacher at the position than Choice, and I say that based on observing both coaches in a similar setting.

No dancing or early cutting if you play running back for Chad Scott. ”You must have a vertical mentality,” he said more than once during his lecture.

During Chad Scott’s talk on running backs, there were some good James Simon clips from spring practice. A lot of Simon and Tre Wisner on the clinic tape.

Caleb Bluiett wore No. 42 during his career (2012-16).

It keeps everybody in the building hungry to keep going. Sark and the players talked a lot Tuesday on how Texas hasn’t arrived yet.
