The ability to play the run with lighter boxes allowed the Tampa-2 looks (including the 3-safety looks Texas used against Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl) to evolve. The defense gradually got better and better at it, so they used it more and more.

Players knowing the expectations of the staff and how the coaches operate is what’s been the key in staff continuity counting.

D'Onta's 51-carry game against Kansas is the best example of what you referenced.

Say what you will about the movie, I thought Scottie Scheffler stole the show.

This guy ran for 86 yards and two touchdowns in 1993 against Rice. That was the first Texas game I attended and this card is from the program sold at the stadium that night.

He wore 37 for the OU game in ‘98.

Our own @Rod Babers started the Houston Lamar pipeline, which has also been a good one for the Longhorns.

Gerry, Bobby and I have done various studies regarding this topic over the years. I know thinking change over time and there are ebbs and flows. But I’m driving to the Houston area today and it occurred to me how good Brenham has been to the Longhorns. From Roosevelt Leaks to Limas Sweed to Malcom Brown, there have been some great Texas football players who’ve come from the land of Blue Bell. It’s hard to top the Brenham pipeline in both quality and quantity.

Snacks was waived by the Titans, but the Raiders picked up. He wasn’t without a home for long.
