Reshuffling on the OL (Monday 1:50 p.m.)
Two areas I think we improve in for this game versus the Cotton Bowl are giving up TFLs and Passes Deflected. Arch should be able to clean both of these up with his height in the pocket and athleticism. I see sacks as a different story... if the pocket collapses, the pocket collapses. OTs can get beat. But Arch's athleticism should help him escape TFLs and his ability to spread the field should help the run game negate this issue. Sonny Styles ate us alive in these two categories... 3 TFL, 1 PD, 1 Sack We gave up 9 TFLs, 6 PDs, 4 Sacks. Gotta improve there

Who has the edge going into 8/30?
If we go into The Shoe healthy, I think we win in a similar looking game to Texas vs Vandy last year. Going back and forth between a 2 score and 1 score game in the second half as we grind it out on the ground.

Steve Sarkisian Monday Availability (August 18)
Sark was on “The Stampede” with Bob Ballou, Mack Brown, Vince Young last week on this topic and detailed a similar idea into how he prepped for Michigan and Wink Martindale. Thought that was cool insight if anyone wanted to give it a listen

Wow, yes didn't even look at Alaska originally! Wyoming's counties actually fit the Wyoming logo perfectly 😂

College Football Imperialism Map - Preseason
It is always funny to see blue bloods with a tiny amount of land and then schools like UNLV or Nevada with land the size of California. Shows how expansive / dispersed everything is on the west coast. Louisiana's representation is similarly interesting / funny.

Texas No. 5, Ohio State No. 1 in final 2025 preseason SP+ rankings
Here’s where I disagree with Connelly’s holes on the lines and receiving core “logic”… Lance Gunn said it best this morning, “Colin Simmons wasn’t a starter but he can play. Burke wasn’t a starter but he can play.” Sark added Power 4 DTs Cole Brevard, Travis Shaw, Maraad Watson, Lavon Johnson to go with Alex January and Melvin Hills who have been in the program. Experience all along the line. Josiah Sharma, Lance Jackson, Justus Terry, Myron Charles as added depth in recruiting on the DL. Brooks Austin says it about Georgia all the time, “you don’t have to fill holes if you’re consistently recruiting and bringing in talent.” That’s what Texas is doing, doesn’t feel like we get the benefit of the doubt so let’s continue proving people wrong. On the receiving core end, DeAndre Moore and Ryan Wingo return. Arch got all his snaps with Wingo on 2nd team last year. We added proven talent in Jack Endries and Emmett Mosley. There shouldn’t be any question here after Sark’s proven it with Adonai Mitchell, Matthew Golden, Silas Bolden, Isiah Bond. Proven talent development in recruiting high school and transfer players via the draft. The spin I can put on Connelly’s SP+ ranking is that 5 feels like the floor for Texas given his assessment. Edit: didn’t even touch on the fact that the OL has all been in the program 2-3 years. Campbell returns, Goosby has experience by fire, Cole Hutson’s had his share of snaps, and Arch has worked with these guys on 2nd team. I had to get back to work 😂

Never started number one
I’d like Ohio State to be 1 and for us to be 2. Then I can save my phone battery and $8 on WiFi on the flight home as there’ll be no need to speculate what ranking we’ll be going into Week 2 😏🤘🏽

27 Days Away From Kickoff — Who’s Your Favorite No. 27?
Michael Griffin's toe-tap INT in the 2006 Rose Bowl in the 2nd quarter to stop Texas from going down 14-3, will always be one of the greatest Longhorn interceptions. Grabbed momentum there that helped us be up at half 16-10.

I'll have to look into that one in Austin. Looks like the last one took place in June? Do they hold it multiple times per year?
