I guess there’s not much Texas can do when other schools want to dramatically overpay for players we want. Reminds me of Damonic Williams a year ago—there was simply no way we were gonna pay that guy $1M+. It’s a bummer, though—Hunter would have filled a huge hole on this roster. Not sure where we go from here.

Branch and Singleton are both dynamic, so I wouldn’t mind having them both. But that’s gonna be a hefty price tag. And I’m not sure how our stud incoming freshman WR would feel about us bringing in two portal WRs.

That would be a major f-up by the staff if they let Tech do the end-around.

I think Nansen will be a great judge of whether he’s worth bringing in. If we go after him, it means that Nansen thinks he can be a strong contributor. If we don’t, it means there are better options out there.

OU with another BRUTAL schedule: Texas, @South Carolina, Ole Miss, and @Tennessee in four straight weeks. Then @Alabama, Mizzou, and LSU to end the year. Plus they have a home OOC game vs Michigan. Ol’ Burnt Vegetables is staring face to face with getting fired.

No home games in the month of October, including a very difficult road game in Gainesville followed by Red River. And then three straight weeks to end the season we get @Georgia and at home vs Arkie and Aggy. I do like that we end the year twice at home, but definitely won’t be easy.

My question is, would we prefer Dalton Johnson or Dillon Thieneman at safety?

Venables better KILL it in the portal or he’s toast. His roster is now noticeably worse than it was two days ago, and that’s saying something.

Having seen them both play, I personally would have kept Van Buren over Arnold. But I guess Lebby knows both players better than anyone.

According to PFF, Taffe was the highest graded safety in the country. It’s egregious.

Pretty egregious that the best defense in the country got a total of 3 players across all three teams.

@Gerry Hamilton @Bobby Burton Would Flood have any interest in guys like Ethan Onianwa from Rice or Josh Thompson from Northwestern? These are highly productive, experienced future NFL draft picks that would instantly stabilize the OL. I just have a very hard time imagining that Sark would allow Arch to play behind a completely green OL. That feels like a potential disaster.

He had a great year in 2023, but his numbers were way down this year. He feels like a good, solid veteran depth piece to replace Gbenda, but he’s not as explosive as Hill or Lefau. It’s hard to see him starting or even playing significant minutes next year if he were to transfer here.
