I actually think it speaks to bad evaluations more than anything. Flood’s strategy of recruiting mammoths who can’t move well hasn’t really paid off. Also could speak to poor development. But either way, not one of the departing OL was in any way ready to make a contribution this year and there’s no indication that they’d be any good thereafter. Again, it’s an indictment of Flood’s evaluation and development as much as as anything. That being said, getting dudes to hit on the OL has always been a crapshoot and takes years.

Why this is a dangerous new era for a college football program
Not sure if this is tongue in cheek, but I actually think it’s correct. For every Vernon Broughton Texas opts not to retain, there will be a Jalen Walker available in the portal. For every Jaydon Blue, there’s a Raleek Brown. You potentially miss on high-impact, NFL draft pick type players that you’re not willing to wait on, but you can potentially substitute in future NFL first-rounders in their place. Not saying one way is better than the other, and not many schools can do it the second way like Texas can. But that’s why it’s good to be the king.

That’s been my assumption. Indiana was his childhood dream school since both parents went there. He’s already visited them, so what’s the holdup? Part of me thinks he visits Texas after the dead period before deciding.- Portal Palace

- Two ways Cam Coleman immediately makes the Texas offense better
My theory is that Sark’s circle of trust for WRs makes it very difficult for them to develop at Texas. We know that Sark doesn’t rotate his receivers very often and has a very tight circle of trust. This means that it’s extremely difficult for young receivers to get on the field and get meaningful reps. This, in turn, requires Sark to go to the portal to get proven experience at the position, which further impedes the young players’ development and keeps them off the field. It’s a self-reinforcing cycle.- Two ways Cam Coleman immediately makes the Texas offense better
Great stuff, Jeff. Thanks!- Other schools message board conspiracies, meltdowns and screenshots
They never learn. Tickle me Elko is 0-2 and Burnt Vegetables is 1-3 against Sark. Not sure what exactly has changed in the last week that makes either of those trends likely to flip. I’ll take Colin Simmons against Marcel one-read and John Mid-teer 10/10 times.- Other schools message board conspiracies, meltdowns and screenshots

That is some kind of rationalization 😂- Portal Palace
I kinda like Lane. He’s the closest thing we have to The Pirate in this era. But I also secretly think it would be hilarious if he ends up with a garbage qb next year. In fact I’m rooting for that outcome since we have to play them.- Other schools message board conspiracies, meltdowns and screenshots
Cody Coleman literally rented advertising space in Times Square. What the hell do the tortilla throwers think Tech is offering to these portal players? The opulence and glorious vistas of Lubbock living? $1M worth of tortillas?- Portal Palace
This. I also think we should be updating the pitch to focus on him being the missing piece to a potentially historically good offense. When you’re a lineman blocking for THAT qb and THOSE playmakers, you look a whole lot better- Portal Palace
Yeah it is, but he hasn’t committed anywhere yet. I’m not saying we should put all our eggs in that basket but no reason not to keep chipping away. If we can get him on campus, we’ve got a shot - Portal Palace
