That sounds logical. Also, some of the freshman players put an intramural flag football team together and made it halfway through the season before the coaches found out and pulled the plug on it. They were out there playing "two hand touch" instead of flag lol. Was a bit of an eye opener lol

The student paper interviewed him after, where he said that even though they had a quick strike offense, they were prone to mistakes in 2 minute drill over the course of the season, and he didnt want to risk that so deep in Northern Iowa's territory.

I was a freshman there for their run to the semis in 2005. (Shout out Barrick Neely and OC Tom Herman (🤢)). I was hoping Bailiff could build something but he went to Rice and it's been mediocrity ever since. I love the vibe that Kinne has brought in, I just hope he isn't using it as a stepping stone to a bigger job. I'd get it if he did eventually, they just need some prolonged sustainability

I would say that playing nickel is harder in that you're expected to get in and mix it up with the big boys in run support as well as your coverage duties. As to coverage corners it depends on if you're zone based or man based as to whether you switch sides or not. Now defenses run both, it depends on their preference, what they're best at etc. Cover 2 means 2 high defenders (your safeties) and the others underneath, with corners in the flats, outside linebackers in the hook/curl zone, and middle in the middle (duh). There's variations like 2 man, where the under defenders man up but the 2 high still plays zone, Tampa 2, with the middle linebacker dropping deeper in his zone than normal to help take away that hole in between the safeties, zone blitz variations, etc. I'm still learning more about coverages myself.
