2024 NFL Draft Thread
I'm admittedly biased, but I think CJ's impact in Houston and how quickly the franchise has turned around makes these other teams a little more desperate to strike gold with a QB in this draft.

DB issues and the fix.
Yeah, but also the most important result of the Spring Game is staying healthy, which is an advantage for offenses. I have no doubt that the defense in general wasn't going at it 100% yesterday. This was nothing more than an exhibition for the fans, and it was a great success IMO.

Arch Manning spring game thread
Also want to add that the most impressive part of Arch's performance yesterday was the rhythm he played with. His internal clock and timing was impressive. And so important in Sark's offense.

Arch Manning spring game thread
Right. Also, "if his name wasn't Manning" blah blah blah. Yes, being a MANNING matters. We're all taking that into account when projecting his greatness. Growing up in that family, with the technical and mental preparation he's been exposed to his entire life, is a massive edge.

Raptor's Johntay Porter facing possible permanent ban from NBA
Probably the right move, but Adam Silver acting all high and mighty about this is laughable considering how much the NBA has attached itself to legal gambling sites.

Report: USC DT Bear Alexander "expected" to enter the portal
Assuming significant NIL money would need to be involved, I don't see why it's worth trying to bring him here.

Become an OTF OG
Fastest I've ever paid for a UT sports subscription. Love what y'all are doing at OTF.

Ricky Williams Joins OTF This Sunday!
Great get! I love Ricky. Dude was ahead of his time when it came to trying to manage his mental health. All the criticism he received back then would be met with more admiration today. Would love to have him closer/more involved with the program.

Xavier Worthy Breaks NFL Combine 40-Yard Dash Record
Love the standard these players set at the combine for the young guys moving forward. WRU incoming.

What is Bohl’s problem?
Bohls and everyone else on the Texas football beat at AAS have been a joke for years. Just a group of antagonistic and bitter journalists that have been a net negative for the program for decades. Whoever's been in charge all these years should be ashamed of themselves. I'm not expecting the local paper to be rah-rah fans, but the cynicism that emanates from these group of hacks is embarrassing. Never forget that Bohls didn't vote for VY for Heisman in 2005 or Colt McCoy later on. And yes, whoever writes the headlines should have been let go a long time ago. The Hookem.com (@bevobeat) Twitter account has 23k+ followers, and they maybe get an average of 2-3 likes or retweets on any given article. Just a complete wasteland due to years of negative coverage.

RB Jonathon Brooks Recovering Well from ACL
I've been a Brooks fan from the day he flashed as a backup. Could tell he could be a great RB. But it still blows my mind - in a good way - that he might be the 1st RB taken even after the ACL injury.

You have to love Vic Schaefer
It feels like accountability is a dying ethos in the world today. Love that Vic and the players are fully bought in on it.

Talkin' Ball - Best QB/WR Duos in 2024
Cool to see them #1 on this list, though since they haven't played together yet it seem a bit high lol. That said, I'm interested to see what our offense looks like next year with a a deep set of WRs and no JT. Do we see a lot more 4 and 5 WR sets?

David Pollack With Huge Praise for Quinn Ewers
Can't stand Pollack but I think he's right here. Including the comments that QE's footwork needs to improve significantly.

Tuesday: Why Sark Changed Spring Ball?
To me this is another sign that Sark is happy with the culture and locker room. He trusts his guys and is planning accordingly.

Monday: No Big 12 Teams on Future Schedule
Texas made their own bed between 2010 and 2023, but it did us no favors to play in the Big 12, especially after NU/CU/TAMU left. Every conference game outside of OU was a lose/lose scenario. Texas wins? "blah, they SHOULD win" Texas loses? "hahaha, pathetic". Beating Texas was a massive deal for our opponents. The opposing head coach gets an immediate boost, no matter how good or bad their season was. Beating Texas was vital for their recruiting efforts. Every team had a chip on their shoulder against us and we had very little desire to fire back, even when we sucked. Also we had to play in high end HS stadiums in cities/towns that aren't really desirable for most Texas fans to attend. Texas sucking for over a decade was the lifeblood for a lot of our Big 12 opponents' success. They thrived off of us, and us beating these teams didn't provide that much joy or excitement. Screw 'em all. Good riddance.

Monday: No Big 12 Teams on Future Schedule
With a 12 team playoff every year now, I'd rather continue playing one OOC game against a top/blue blood program. Probably gives us an edge heading into conference play and it's always good for Texas to continue to play marquis games. 2 losses is still almost a guaranteed playoff spot.

Commentary: Arch and Simms
And this was one my favorite A&M wins ever.

Commentary: Arch and Simms
Great comments, Bobby. Totally agree that the Simms commitment was a catalyst for the program's future success. I went to the Holiday Bowl vs. Oregon in 2000. Incredible game with 2 things that I vividly remember. 1. We returned a KO for a TD for the first time in forever(thank you, Victor Ike!) and 2. Simms threw three absolute SEEDS in the end zone to Roy, BJ, and Sloan that all could have been caught to win the game.

It's expected that Cam Williams starts at RT, correct?

Chip Kelly Expected to Take Ohio State OC Job
Chip won't have major responsibilities with NIL/recruiting at Ohio State like he did at UCLA.

Eli Manning on Arch Manning transfer rumors
I'm sure Sark and staff work hard to keep Arch comfortable and happy, but it's quite the indictment on college football that so many talking heads are basically stunned that Arch won't consider transferring after one redshirt season. Mike Farrell is the absolute worst about this. Is he overrated because his name is Manning or is he so good that he HAS to transfer since QE came back for 2024? Pick a lane, a-holes.

Chip Kelly Expected to Take Ohio State OC Job
What a horrible look for UCLA. Their program is a disaster.

Merril Hodge on Caleb Williams ... love it!!!
I don't get a great feeling about Caleb either. Don't love how he's handled criticism and the media, and Riley no doubt coddled him. He's made a ton of wow plays, but it seems like most of them have been off schedule and that's not gonna work for him in the NFL IMO. And Lamar Jackson seems to be the only "running" QB who's avoided significant injury, so I wouldn't put to much stock in that skillset. Overall I think he's more of a project then people realize.

Way-Too-Early 2024 SEC Rankings (Feb. 9)
Ole Miss will be fun to watch this year. They went crazy in NIL to make a run in 2024. If they have a top 4 finish, my guess is other schools will start adapting that one-off strategy. If they crash and burn for some reason, it will be entertaining as well.
